Syria ‘Red Line’ Dilemma
Syria crossed the constantly changing Assad regime “red line” in its uncivil war, whatever that means at any given changing moment to President Obama, Congress, and Americans, as opposed to the conflicting interests of Russia versus France and England in particular. Not to be ignored are deep divisions between disparate Islamic followers of Shiite, Sunni, and Kurds, not to mention dozens of many offshoots of these major sects. Throw Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, and Turkey into the potpourri, in addition to Egypt, Libya, and North African countries into the mix, and who knows how deeply offensive the stench might be.
Lincoln’s Civil War prevented secession at the cost of 540,000 to 640,000 deaths and another half-million serious injuries. It has been determined that the Syria internal conflict is responsible for some 90,000 deaths and America MUST involve itself into this one-more impossible unending Islamic Civil War that does not measure up to America’s Civil War casualties.
The Syrian government has been accused of using chemical weapons against its own people, thereby crossing the ballyhooed red line, and as usual, President Obama will now study the situation that should have already been studied. The reality is that both sides are human rights violators and the option is as to which bully the US should or will support.
Bottom line is that Obama’s decision will be either directly going into the conflict or not, support the diverse rebel groups or not, or pass the buck to Europe and/or the UN. American forces have defended Muslims in several conflicts but have not been appreciated because America is not Muslim … yet.
Muslim countries have been fighting for nearly 1400 years since Muhammad died in 632, leaving potential leaders of Islam to open conflict involving followers of Muhammad’s father-in-law versus Muhammad’s son-in-law, each claiming the right of succession.
Those factions and many subdivisions have fought violently amongst themselves over leadership of Islam to this day; Shiite versus Sunni, and quietly joined by Kurds who basically control oil fields. Islam is trapped in ideological conflict that can never end until the end of time or Armageddon, whichever occurs first, unless they are one and the same thing.
There is no end of new hotspots involving what recent presidents defined as a “peaceful religion.” Why are Islamic countries always at the center of revolt armed with terror, violence, and trampling down of any other belief system, particularly Christianity and Judaism?
If the US is to be de facto vigilante of the world, why squander available money with payments to the UN that is in fact overrun with representatives of Islamic countries creating all the havoc? No matter where the US goes to quench raging international fires, they keep erupting across the globe. The solution may be as simple as doing what Ron Paul has advocated: cut off financial aid completely as both sides consider the US “West” to be the enemy.
America becoming energy independent will choke the money supply used to purchase OPEC oil that funds and generates continuing unrest in the Islamic 57 country world, 50 of which are at war at any given time.

H.L. Mencken, Born 1880 – Died 1956, was a journalist, satirist & critic. He wrote an editorial while working for the Baltimore Evening Sun, which appeared in the July 26, 1920 edition.
“As democracy is perfected, the office of President represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart’s desire at last and the White House will be occupied by a downright moron.” – H.L. Mencken, The Baltimore Evening Sun, July 26, 1920
If only the White House were occupied by a downright moron, the country would be better off. The “best and brightest” have sold out the Constitution, God and Country, not for “Thirty Pieces of Silver,” but purely out of HATE for Christianity and this once great Republic – and that is the critical red line America has crossed.
