Mexican Border ‘D-Fence’ NO Defense

Senator Marco Rubio declared that “Much of the Gang of Eight immigration reform bill was in ‘perfect shape,’ though absent border security measures… There was no choice but to legalize at least 11 million illegal immigrants and legalize illegal aliens so they can fund border security by paying taxes and fines.” Isn’t that like hiring the fox to guard the henhouse? Really. Give presidential wannabes enough time and sure enough, they will hang themselves.

Rubio took a stab at unemployed American workers by favoring higher wages for immigrants, further weakening job prospects for unemployed American workers. “There are American workers who, for lack of a better term, can’t cut it. There shouldn’t be a presumption that every American worker is a star performer. There are people who just can’t get it, can’t do it, don’t want to do it. And so you can’t obviously discuss that publicly.” Rubio might also have implied “There shouldn’t be a presumption that every member of Congress is a star performer.”

Senator John Cornyn offered an amendment for 6,500 additional Border Patrol Agents for the US-Mexico border. That is the closest correct assessment as the Ron Paul answer to Middle East Wars is to stop all foreign funding, unilaterally end undeclared wars, and bring all troops home from foreign bases. This scenario lends itself to station Military Camps and bases across the 3,000 mile border. Military presence and patrols will effectively shut down 99% of illegal immigration immediately, that along with electronic and satellite monitoring will get the job done while saving money and creating jobs along the military region.

The fact that protection of the border is intentionally ignored was challenged by Senators John McCain and Chuck Schumer who perhaps rightly claimed America’s borders could never be secured to solve the problem of illegal immigration. Schumer admitted, “It will take ‘Years And Years And Years’ to secure the border.”

Cornyn does not realize how right he is as a look at the $8 billion Interstate 95 along the Atlantic East Coast connecting nearly 2,000 miles through 15 States from Maine to Florida including the original 13 Colonies and the District of Columbia, but NEVER for a single day since its 1956 authorization has all of I-95 been navigable.

Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it, and if I-95 history lends any credence, construction of the proposed 3,000 mile Mexican-Border fence would not be completed in this or even possibly the next century, and at an ever escalating astronomical inflationary cost that the US cannot afford.

Ironically, long before the border fence could possibly be completed, and should the US survive until then, it may become necessary that Mexico becomes one or more new States admitted to the expanding United States of America. In jest, it may be cheaper to buy Mexico that would then gain nothing by its citizens emigrating to the Upper 48. American and Mexican work laws and restrictions would be identical, eliminating the need to go to the main US for higher wages, thus eliminating the necessity for D fence.

Chief negotiator Schumer behind the Gang Immigration Bill was against an amendment offered by Senator Chuck Grassley that would block legalization of current illegal immigrants until the border was certified as secure for six months. Schumer argued the Grassley amendment would delay legalization for too long. The “pathway to citizenship” for 12 but closer to 33 million illegals without a secure border would likely attract a new wave of illegals crossing the border. Schumer declared that if the Gang of 8 Bill became law, “Illegal immigration will be a thing of the past,” no doubt due to lack of restriction, restraint, or enforcement.

Protecting the Mexican Border needs a perfect “D-Fence” that is NO Defense as the Senate Immigration Bill contains a provision to create a National ID System, no doubt creating yet another 2500 pages of legislation. Social Security cards already constitute a National ID system that combined with eVerify of employees by prospective employers is workable, providing protection against illegal worker infiltration. The current problem is that many illegal immigrants use the Employer Identification Number (EIN) to skirt the law when ONLY the valid Social Security Number should be the identifier. EIN is for employers only, not for working citizens. Banks are complicit in this fraud, allowing bank accounts without the required Social Security number.

Delaware Democrat Senator Chris Coons says, “I want to make sure we embed privacy protections in the system, both in how it is built and administered so that data cannot easily be stolen, and also that the information is only used for legitimate purposes.” Whatever. The proposed legislation will be used for nefarious purposes, and will citizens be forced to carry more papers than merely the current valid Social Security card. Civil rights activists balk at the necessity for immigrants to present their papers, akin to giving bandits ski masks and a get-away car to thwart their identification.

Senator Rand Paul: “We already know the federal government is rife with false positives on the no-fly list and the National Instant Check system for gun buyers. Why would we be foolish enough to think that a massive database of all citizens would not have the same problems on a grander scale?”

Senator Rob Portman: “The E-Verify system would block at least 40 percent of illegal immigrants from passing a job background check…. We need to be sure that we’re not moving ahead with the legal status of some kind for people who are here without putting enforcement in place.

Senator Barbara Boxer plans an amendment to the Senate immigration bill to "Take money to build the border fence and spend it on immigrant healthcare, and redirect funds from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and spend it on entitlements to the illegals.” Supporters of the amnesty bill claim that the new “citizens” will not be eligible for welfare and entitlements, but Boxer spilled the beans, “Growing the $4 billion in annual government assistance to Illegal Immigrants.”

Rubbing salt in the wound, Virginia Democrat Senator Tim Kaine delivered his amnesty plea on the Senate floor…IN SPANISH. Politicians, the higher up their rank, the more words used to confuse the issue in order to camouflage secret provisions.

Illegal immigrants or not, they will vote for the Boxer types who give illegals free everything; no fence to keep illegals out, but once they are here they are Liberal Progressive Democrats and need to be honored and paid for; forever. Illegal immigrants stole their way into the growing 47%. Is this a great country or what?

Washington hides exposure of illegal immigration under cover of administration scandals, yet another application of former White House Chief of Staff and now Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel famous for his political maxim, “Never let a good crisis go to waste.”

Can America afford pandering to 33 million illegals on the dole, plus another 33 million magnetically drawn in, gorging on welfare, food stamps, Medicare, Medicaid, overwhelming schools, hospitals, and prisons, while accelerating the demise of America, all in the name of retaining Liberal political power and control?

It is human nature to seek the simplest answers as defined in Occam’s Razor, a scientifically fundamental principle holding that “The simplest explanations are likely the correct ones,” or in the vernacular, “Keep It Simple…Stupid.” The maxim also states that “Entities should not be multiplied unnecessarily,” principles attributed to 14th century logician and Franciscan Friar William of Ockham, the village in the English county of Surrey where the Friar was born. The most useful statement of the principle for scientists is, “When you have two competing theories that make exactly the same predictions, the simpler one is the better.” Einstein added his own version, “Everything should be made as simple as possible, but not simpler.”

There is nothing new under the sun as the principle of Occam’s Razor dates back to Aristotle, who wrote “Nature operates in the shortest way possible,” but sometimes things are more complicated than expected. Shakespeare’s Hamlet to Horatio observation may have been closer to the mark, “There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of.”

Pope Francis took his name after St. Francis of Assisi, following, but more likely leading, the simplicity advice he gave, “Preach the gospel, and if necessary, use words,” meaning actions speak louder than words, or lead by exmple. St Francis also provided a roadmap politicians would do well to follow; “Start by doing what is necessary, then what is possible, and suddenly you are doing the impossible.”
