Let’s Destroy Healthcare in Order to Save It!
Democrats both in the House and in the Senate of the United States Congress are foretelling all manner of disasters that will befall the Nation should H.J. Res 59 be passed by the Senate or even worse be rejected. President Obama has stated openly he will veto H.J. Res 59 if it comes out of the Senate with Section 137 intact.
SEC. 137. (a) IN GENERAL.–Notwithstanding any other provision of law, no Federal funds shall be made available to carry out any provisions of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (Public Law 111–148) or title I and subtitle B of title II of the Health Care andEducation Reconciliation Act of 2010 (Public Law 111– 152), or of the amendments made by either such Act.
(b) LIMITATION.–No entitlement to benefits under any provision of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (Public Law 111–148) or title I and subtitle B of title II of the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act of 2010 (Public Law 111–152), or the amendments made by either such Act, shall remain in effect on and after the date of the enactment of this joint resolution, nor shall any payment be awarded, owed, or made to any State, District, or territory under any such provision.
(c ) UNOBLIGATED BALANCES.–Notwithstanding any other provision of law, all unobligated balances available under the provisions of law referred to in subsection (a) are hereby rescinded.
H.J. Res 59, passed by the House, fully funds the government except for the provisions of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, commonly known as “Obamacare”. Arguments will be made that to defund “Obamacare” will deprive needy Americans of Health Care Services. This never has been nor will be the case. Health care has been available to all Americans and those illegally in this nation regardless of ability to pay for some time. Health Insurance has not. The drafters of “Obamacare” attempted to address the Health Insurance Issues in this Nation and subsequently as most massive government programs do created exponentially more problems for the separate Health Care and Health Insurance Industries.
The statement the House of Representatives has made in H.J. Res 59 is that the Nation needs to step back and take a good look at the provisions in the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act before it destroys the entire Health Care System in the Nation. Most reasonable Americans would believe that Destroying Healthcare in order to save it is fundamentally wrong. Almost every promise made to the American People concerning “Obamacare” have turned out to be nothing more that smokescreens blown away by the winds of reality. Rates are rising, employers are dropping their plans and employees hours are being cut to circumvent the mandates of “Obamacare”. Medicare budgets will be slashed while the aged population rises. The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act was flawed law when it was passed and remains so today. The House in H.J.Res. 59 is acting prudently and within their scope of responsibility in defunding “Obamacare” so the Nation has time to revisit it’s provisions. All Americans should support their efforts.
