We Need a Lot More Like You
I have been told that my message is “preaching to the choir.” If that be the case, so be it. As a retired veteran of World War II, Korea and more, I am of the considered opinion that We the People of these United States need more like you, one of our most valuable assets, to be our lawmakers. Sure, you have done your part and the part of a couple other folks, but you are not done. I need you and so do all the other veterans who are just too old to even get elected to congress.
I proposed to run for congress in the 12th Congressional District in New Jersey to attempt to unseat one of the most liberal and lying Democrats in the 111th Congress. My family prevailed by the most plausible argument they had. Dad, you are too old (Eighty-five) to start another career.
There are over 22 Million of you out there, many who I am sure have thought about being an elected official. You veterans are well-qualified by your military training and service, to make the transition to being in charge. All veterans who have been elected have not been typical of today’s young, experienced military folks.
Just because you are a veteran will not assure your election, but it sure won’t hurt. George Washington was our first veteran to run things. He did quite well because he had the skills and the pride and the loyalty.
I propose the formation of a coalition of veterans organizations to “preach to the choir” until we have an elected government which will follow the Constitution, will demand term limits and will demand strict adherence to the ethical rules pertinent the position.
There are also thousands of positions in the civil service to which YOU would be a magnificent addition. Politicians promise the moon and then their minds go blank. Military folks ARE different; they accomplish the mission.
So there you have it; if you belong to a veteran’s organization, talk up the idea. Tell ‘em Tom asked you to do it.
