Do We Fish or Cut Bait?

“Muslim Leaders Say U.S. Pilot Refused to Fly With Them Onboard” was the headline From the Associated Press as reported by Fox News on May 6. The event took place on a flight operated by Atlantic Southeast Airlines based in Atlanta. Both men are reportedly religious leaders, imams. One, Masudur Rahman is an adjunct instructor of Arabic at The University of Memphis and was reportedly dressed in “traditional” Indian clothing. The other imam was dressed in Arab garb including “traditional” headgear.

It seems to me that reasonably intelligent people would choose to behave in a manner consistent with the society in which they exist. Rather, it is evident that Muslims, especially Muslim religious leaders, choose a confrontational approach. In any event, they try to push the envelope and they succeed only in irritating the non-Muslims with whom they are bound to come in contact. Prior to 9/11, Muslims were merely a curiosity; today they are in every Americans crosshairs. They are automatically “profiled.” as a potential threat. Muslims are the source of great inconvenience and pain to every airline traveler who must undergo the rigors of the invasive security procedures of the TSA.

I am unable to find any Rules or Regulations defining any “Dress Code” for particular ethnic peoples, be they Punjabi, Muslim, Greek Orthodox, Hip Hop Artist or Samurai. A word of advice to those who live in and derive their subsistence in America, dress consistent with American standards. For those traveling on a visitor’s visa, suffer with the rest of us. We do not appreciate mid-air explosions or hijacking of our commercial carriers.

It is patently obvious that the procedures put in place by TSA are downright invasive, demeaning and overreaching. Sure, we all want safety but TSA has proved to be very self protective, abuses go unresolved and the abusers are still on the job. Six-year old little girls are extremely unlikely to introduce lethality onboard an aircraft. Surely, our scientific community has the expertise to develop a scanner capable of doing a full scan with no, or virtually no harmful long-term radiation.

Finally, there is absolutely no rhyme nor reason to permit anyone to board a vehicle of mass transit, Aircraft, train or bus wearing a burqa or any face covering garment which hides identity. For security purposes masks have been outlawed, Many Muslim counties have abolished the wearing of the burqa and associated coverings in schools, universities and government buildings.

All our government entities should do likewise. We have carried Political Correctness to the extreme. It is time to fish or cut bait. We either face the realities existent in our troubled world or pay the price for foolishness.
