Members of the Electoral College met Tuesday to cast their votes for president and vice president. Donald Trump won the vote 312 to 226.
 
As you may recall from high school or college civics classes, the November popular vote does not formally elect the president. It does, however, decide a slate of electors, individuals chosen by the state political parties. The electors pledge to vote for the presidential candidate who wins the popular vote in each state.
 
The electors meet in mid-December, but not in one place. They meet in their respective state capitals to formally cast their votes for president and vice president. So, the Electoral College is really a process and not a place.
 
This year’s Electoral College vote got very little attention, as is normally the case. It was a stark contrast to what happened after the 2016 election when the radical left went nuts.
 
Hillary Clinton supporters waged an unprecedented campaign to intimidate state electors, desperately trying to force them to change their votes and elect Hillary instead of Donald Trump.
 
The home addresses and phone numbers of the electors were published online. They were subjected to daily harassment and vile insults. Some even got death threats.
 
While the effort failed, one result of the left’s bitter attempt to deny Trump the presidency was a 9 to 0 Supreme Court ruling that states could punish “faithless electors” who break their pledge to support the winning candidate.
 
Of course, the left is still bitter. Even as New York’s electors were meeting to cast their votes, Gov. Kathy Hochul called for the Electoral College to be abolished. And she’s not alone. Senate Democrats introduced a constitutional amendment this week to end the Electoral College.
 
 
 
Left-wing Lunacy
 
We reported last week that conservatives scored some important victories in the 2025 National Defense Authorization Act. One of those victories was protecting the children of military service members from sterilizing drugs and disfiguring surgeries.
 
This wasn’t a minor issue in the last campaign, and the public overwhelmingly opposes mutilating children. So, you’d think Democrats might think twice about continuing to promote it. But you’d be wrong.
 
Nearly 60% of House Democrats opposed the defense bill because of this issue. Some Democrats in Congress have suggested that without the ability of service members to mutilate the bodies of their children, at taxpayer expense, we cannot possibly deploy a military that can successfully fight a war.
 
Yes, they are that insane.
 
Yesterday, half of the Senate Democrat caucus launched a last-ditch effort to repeal the commonsense provision protecting children from these radical medical experiments. Thankfully, they failed.
 
But any hope that the election results may have cured the raging Marxism and nihilism in the modern left is a vain hope.
 

 

 

Cheating In The NCAA
 
In related news, Charlie Baker, the president of the NCAA, was testifying before the Senate Judiciary Committee about sports gambling. Republican senators took the opportunity to rake Baker over the coals for his policy of allowing men to cheat in women’s sports by pretending they are women.
 
When Sen. Josh Hawley pointed out the absurd nature of the NCAA’s transgender policy allowing men in women’s locker rooms, Baker said it was a matter of “optionality” or choice for the athletes.
 
That “choice” means men can choose to use women’s locker rooms. If the women have any issue with that, they can choose to stay and undress in front of a man, or the burden is on them to find somewhere else to go.
 
How do you like that choice, ladies?
 
Entertaining as always, Sen. John Kennedy got straight to the point. He told Baker, “I’m sure the NCAA is a good organization. I just can’t figure out what you folks are good for.”
 
After Kennedy got Baker to admit that men have an unfair advantage over women in sports, he blasted Baker for allowing men to cheat, saying, “Why don’t you go onto Amazon and buy a spine online and take a stand?”
 
 
 
Disney Discovers Parents
 
Disney has gone to great lengths to sully the great reputation it had earned under founder Walt Disney. Instead of their movies and shows being fun and safe for children, they have gone all in on the left’s radical agenda. Far from entertaining children, their woke films deliberately seek to indoctrinate them with LGBTQ propaganda.
 
But even though congressional Democrats missed the memo from the election results, some at Disney may have gotten it. They just scrapped plans to include a transgender storyline in the new series “Win Or Lose.”
 
Why? A Disney spokesman said, “When it comes to animated content for a younger audience, we recognize that many parents would prefer to discuss certain subjects with their children on their own terms and timeline.”
 
Wow! What a revelation!
 
Who would have thought that parents might not want their young children exposed to and confused by radical gender theories?
 
While this is a step in the right direction, Disney has a long way to go to earn back the respect and trust it has lost.
