Trump’s Weekend
The president accomplished important things over 72 hours.
I have never seen a president more actively engaged in a 72-hour period and doing more important things than what Donald Trump accomplished over this past weekend.
- He got India and Pakistan to accept a ceasefire.
- He got Ukraine and Russia to agree to peace talks.
- He got Hamas to release the last American hostage.
- He got communist China to lower tariffs and agree to further trade talks.
Monday morning, President Trump signed an executive order on drug prices to stop the cheating of American citizens. Drug companies sell their products all over the world at one price, but they sell their products here at a much higher price.
Politicians have complained about drug prices for years. Donald Trump is actually doing something about it!
I sincerely hope my Republican friends in Congress will not have an immediate knee-jerk reaction about “interfering in the marketplace.” Polling shows that overwhelming majorities of Americans are fed up with sky-high drug costs.
Blessed Are The Peacemakers
To all the mothers reading this, I hope you had a wonderful Mother’s Day! I hope your family recognized everything you’ve done for them over the years. President Trump tried to give not only American mothers but mothers all over the world something precious this weekend. Let me explain.
Historians have observed that when men in combat are severely wounded and dying, many often call out for their mothers to help them. When you think about it, it’s the most normal thing in the world that a man would scream out for the woman who gave him life as his life is being taken away.
President Trump is working tirelessly to end wars and bring peace so fewer sons will die in battle calling out for their mothers’ help.
Joe Biden never even tried to broker a peace deal between Ukraine and Russia. The Biden White House refused to talk to Russia. Their only solution was to send more U.S. tax dollars and weapons to Ukraine, guaranteeing more dead Ukrainian sons and Russian sons and more grieving Ukrainian mothers and Russian mothers.
Thanks to President Trump’s leadership, leaders from Ukraine and Russia will meet this week in Turkey to try to end this terrible war.
Last week, the world nervously watched as the unthinkable almost became a reality – two nuclear powers, India and Pakistan, engaged in a major war. President Trump directed Vice President Vance and Secretary of State Rubio to bring the two nations back from the brink, and they did.
In the Middle East, Donald Trump is doing everything he can to end the cycle of war. He’s cutting off revenue to the world’s leading state-sponsor of terrorism – Iran. He is strengthening U.S. relations with Arab nations. And Edan Alexander, the last American hostage held by Hamas, was freed Monday morning, thanks to President Trump.
At the same time, Donald Trump is rebuilding our military because he knows the surest way to maintain peace is through strength. He has rejected the idea of America as the world’s policeman. He does not believe that the way to peace is to constantly send American men and women to war.
He believes the way to peace is for America to be strong and to engage the world through strength and by providing incentives and, when necessary, threats to keep nations from warring with each other.
Some portion of the left will always hate Donald Trump no matter what he does. He could discover a cure for cancer, and they would still hate him. But someday, Donald Trump will get his reward for seeking peace.
Leftist Lawlessness
The party and the media that were weaponizing law enforcement and wagging their fingers saying, “No one is above the law,” are now in full-throated rebellion against the rule of law.
We saw it Friday when left-wing politicians attempted to storm an illegal alien detention center in Newark, New Jersey. Federal officials are reportedly considering charges against three Democrat members of Congress for their outrageous behavior.
Newark Mayor Ras Baraka was among the mob and was arrested. Baraka, who wants to be governor of New Jersey, has a history of praising Louis Farrakhan.
The members of Congress involved in this melee claimed to have an oversight right to enter the facility. Well, there are certain rules that have to be followed. You can’t just show up and demand to get in.
The Biden administration routinely kept Republican members of Congress and reporters from Fox News out of detention facilities along the southern border. But the GOP congressmen didn’t riot!
Twenty-four hours before the Newark riot, a city councilwoman in Worcester, Massachusetts, incited a mini-riot against ICE agents and local police when federal immigration agents attempted to arrest an illegal alien.
The video of the arrest went viral because it allegedly showed a woman with a baby in her arms being approached by law enforcement and “concerned citizens” rushing to her defense. It was portrayed as if ICE was randomly picking up mothers off the streets and deporting them.
What the media aren’t telling you is that this illegal alien woman was a violent criminal who had been arrested by local police for “assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and assault and battery on a pregnant woman.” That’s who the left-wing city councilwoman was rushing to defend!
A local police union is demanding an ethics investigation over the councilwoman’s “deplorable and unacceptable” conduct. There are also demands for her resignation.
Because of Joe Biden’s four years of open borders, there’s no agreement on precisely how many millions of people entered our country with no identification or vetting. How is that possible?
Where were all the judges so concerned about the law then? They won’t let Donald Trump enforce our immigration laws, but they had no problem with Joe Biden ignoring our immigration laws.
What we do know is that virtually every school in America was negatively impacted. Every American’s healthcare was negatively impacted. State and local budgets were trashed. Deficits skyrocketed.
And worst of all, many Americans, mostly women and children, were raped, robbed, and murdered all because Joe Biden let these criminal aliens in.
Let me tell you what is going to inevitably happen. Federal law enforcement officers are going to get killed. When it happens, the Democrat Party will be directly responsible.
Democrat-appointed federal judges are trying to tie the president’s hands behind his back, leaving criminal aliens free to terrorize our neighborhoods. Left-wing rabble-rousers, like we saw in Newark, are making federal immigration officers’ jobs even more dangerous.
Local judges, like one in Wisconsin, are helping illegal aliens escape. Leftist politicians have demonized immigration officers as members of the KKK. Now, they are demonizing immigration officers as they are trying to get criminal aliens out of our communities and out of our country.
The Democrat Party has been taken over by the forces of lawlessness from top to bottom.
More Leftist Violence
The Hamas youth were out in force last week. They occupied Columbia University’s library and seized a public area of Brooklyn College. Both incidents resulted in scores of arrests. Here are some interesting facts about the Columbia incident:
- 65 students were suspended.
- 33 people from “affiliated institutions” were banned from Columbia’s campus.
- 80 people were arrested.
- 76% of those arrested were women.
- 11% of those arrested use “they/them” pronouns and identify as “transgender” or “nonbinary.”
That final stat is just another reminder of the transgender movement’s propensity for violence, given that it’s roughly seven times greater than the estimated 1.6% of Americans who allegedly identify as “transgender” or “nonbinary.”
And the fact that the LGBTQ movement is allying itself with militant Islamists is just more evidence of the Left’s insanity.
Bessent v. Beijing
Sunday, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer concluded two days of intense talks with their communist Chinese counterparts. They emerged with a significant deal that no one was expecting. Once again, President Trump made his critics look foolish on the issue of trade with communist China.
Both sides agreed to lower tariffs by 115% for 90 days. That means China dropped its tariffs against U.S. products from 125% to 10%. We dropped our tariffs on Chinese products from 145% to 30%. President Trump is keeping an additional 20% tariff in place due to the fentanyl issue.
The financial markets liked the news. The Dow Jones surged more than 1,000 points, with the S&P 500 and NASDAQ also making big gains.
Trade negotiations will continue over the next 90 days. Bessent said yesterday that he expects to meet again with top Chinese officials “in the next few weeks.”
Chinese negotiators seemed to feign surprise that the trade war escalated so quickly because in the previous four years, no one in the U.S. government ever raised trade issues with them.
Well, that would be the Biden administration. They repeatedly said their number one issue was working with communist China on climate change. They were going to “save the planet,” not the jobs of working-class Americans.
