The American Left Owns the NYPD Assassinations
“What do we want? Dead cops. When do we want it? Now!” The mob, representing the ultimate aspirations of a divide-and-conquer American left, got what it wanted. NYPD officers Wenjian Liu and Rafael Ramos were executed by Ismaaiyl Brinsley, a career criminal with 19 arrests to his “credit.” A criminal who made his intentions known on his Instagram page. “I’m Putting Wings on Pigs Today,” the assassin wrote. “They Take 1 Of Ours . . . Let’s Take 2 of Theirs.” The post included a picture of the same silver automatic handgun used in the killings, and the same camouflage pants and blue sneakers Brinsley was wearing when he took his own life as police were closing in. The statements were filed under the despicable hashtag, #ShootThePolice, and two other hashtags referencing Eric Garner and Michael Brown. The two men represent the American left’s latest narratives revolving around a nation full of racist out-of-control cops who target innocent black men. Make no mistake: this is an atrocity *wholly owned* by the American left.

The mob, representing the ultimate aspirations of a divide-and-conquer American left, got what it wanted. “They Take 1 Of Ours . . . Let’s Take 2 of Theirs.” The post included a picture of the same silver semiautomatic handgun used in the killings, and the same camouflage pants and blue sneakers Brinsley was wearing when he took his own life as police were closing in. The statements were filed under the despicable hashtag, #ShootThePolice, and two other hashtags referencing Eric Garner and Michael Brown. The two men represent the American left’s latest narratives revolving around a nation full of racist out-of-control cops who target innocent black men.
Make no mistake: this is an atrocity wholly owned by the American left.
That would be the same American left that, unlike their efforts following the shooting of Congresswoman Gabby Giffords (D-AZ) – when they blamed the entire right wing in general and the Tea Party in particular for the carnage – has suddenly decided the shooter and only the shooter is to blame for the atrocity. “I don’t believe it’s fair to link the criminal insanity of a lone gunman to the peaceful protest and aspirations of many people across the country, including the attorney general, the mayor, and the president is simply not fair," said NAACP president Cornell William Brooks on "Face the Nation.”
You forgot America’s foremost racial arsonist, Mr. Brooks. That would be Al Sharpton whose tawdry track record of mob incitement from Crown Heights to Harlem right through Ferguson, MO, cannot be dismissed. That would be the same Al Sharpton who has enjoyed unstinting support from Obama and Holder, along with New York’s execrable Mayor, Bill de Blasio, every one of whom has legitimized the mob and their bloodthirsty aspirations.
An excellent expose, courtesy of former DOJ attorney J. Christian Adams, reveals the poisonous and anti-cop atmosphere cultivated by Holder and the gaggle of radical leftist lawyers that comprise the most polarized Justice Department in modern history. Lawyers whose “anti-police attitudes have become federal government policy,” Christian explains. Lawyers who are part of Holder’s effort to target police forces across the nation, using the term “unconscious bias” as the vehicle that makes it clear he and his minions believe the default position of most cops is anti-minority.
The mob has responded in kind. “You’re a bunch of killers,” a passerby told cops standing at the crime scene, a crime scene where people applauded the murders. “Some were saying, ‘They deserved it,’ and another was shouting at the cops, ‘Serves them right because you mistreat people,’” added a local witness.
They were hardly alone. The Twitterverse was a cornucopia of police hatred. “BREAKING: NYPD gets what they deserve,” wrote Dan Ansom Handsome. “I truly don’t care that cops just got shot in head in NYC. It’ll take drastic measures to change a racist nation that murders its citizens,” offered Britta. “I read the story. Really don’t care about those two cops dying. Moving along,” added Nichole Bryant. “If those cops didnt want to be shot they shouldnt have been dressed like criminals," stated Eat My Okra. "Shout out the homie who shot those cops in Brooklyn,” cheered PM.
Mayor De Blasio, whose animus towards cops was highlighted by a statement regarding how he had to train his biracial son, Dante, to be wary when encountering police, has sunk even lower following the killings. He didn’t like it when Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association president Pat Lynch and Sergeant’s Benevolent Association police union president Edward Mullins made him part of the equation in this tragedy, or when police officers turned their backs on him as he entered a press conference following the murders. “It’s unfortunate that in a time of great tragedy, some would resort to irresponsible, overheated rhetoric that angers and divides people,” de Blasio spokesman Marti Adams said in a statement.
That would be the same de Blasio whose Mayoral election campaign theme was based on the notion that New Yorkers “are living in a tale of two cities, and ignoring it isn’t going to move us forward.” The same de Blasio who spoke of “alleged attacks” by protesters who beat up two NYPD lieutenants when they attempted to arrest CUNY professor Eric Linsker. The same Eric Linsker who might have beaten Brinsely to the killer’s circle when he attempted to throw a garbage can on cops from an elevated Brooklyn Bridge walkway. A CUNY professor who wrote “poetry” containing the line “F–k the police” and whose backpack contained three hammers and a black ski mask.
The radicalized halls of academia are equally culpable here and nothing epitomizes that reality better than Brandeis University, who offered typically leftist boilerplate excuses for Khadijah Lynch, an Undergraduate Department Representative for the African and Afro-American Studies Department who tweeted, “i have no sympathy for the nypd officers who were murdered today” and “lmao, all i just really dont have sympathy for the cops who were shot. i hate this racist fuc—- country.”
Chad Williams, chair of the department, released a statement following Lynch’s resignation, noting that “while it may be easy and convenient at this emotionally charged moment to condemn Ms. Lynch, we must also strive to understand why she would make these comments.” Williams then reinforces the leftist meme regarding the “frequent deaths of black men, women and children at the hands of law enforcement officials,” further insisting we must understand “the very real pain and frustration that many young people of color struggle with in trying to navigate their place in a society that all too often delegitimizes their existence.”
Not society, Mr. Williams. An American left that has spent more than 50 years convincing black Americans they are semi-permanent victims of an irredeemably racist nation. The same nation where a white majority twice elected a black president, even as his media enablers protected him from his associations with uber racialists Rev. Jeremiah Wright and Professor Derrick Bell whose “critical race theory” maintains the US legal system is inherently biased against blacks and other minorities because it was built on an ingrained white point of view. The same Derrick Bell who supported a journal entitled Race Traitor, whose editors stated that “the key to solving the social problems of our age is to abolish the white race, which means no more and no less than abolishing the privileges of white skin.” The same white majority who reelected Barack Obama even as they looked past Obama urging Latinos to “punish our enemies” during the 2010 election.
Irene Sundiata Myers, a black woman who was selling roses and inspirational words Sunday on Harlem’s Malcolm X Boulevard, expressed the divisiveness nurtured by the American left. “(The murders) will change the attitude of police across the country in terms of how they go about killing black men, if they begin to think that there’s a possibility that there will be a retribution,” she said.
That would be an American left desperately attempting to change the narrative – with ample help from an equally corrupt media. The New Republic’s Clair Groden insists the murders have “outraged everyone including Al Sharpton to Michael Brown’s family, who stressed that they never advocated violence in calling for law-enforcement reform.” Apparently Groden can dismiss Sharpton’s track record, even as she has apparently “forgotten” that Michael Brown’s stepfather, Louis Head, urged the mob to “burn this bitch down,” following the grand jury decision in Ferguson. The New York Times’ Charles Blow reached back to a 1944 execution of a black boy to come to the moral equivocation that we must condemn “the deranged suicidal cop killer…as well as the cops who kill,” while the Daily Beast’s Michael Tomasky decried "the war the cops are waging right now against Mayor Bill de Blasio.“ He further noted that "young black males are far more likely to be shot by cops than young white males,” even as he omitted the reality that in New York City, for example, 97 percent of all shooting suspects were black or Latino.
I could go on, but most Americans get the picture. And the overwhelming majority are well aware of the reality that it isn’t Tea Partiers or conservatives or anyone else on the American right manning the ramparts in search of “social justice” that is neither social, nor just. The outpouring of hate and rationalization, with ample dollops of faux surprise that murderous rhetoric fuels murderous reality, emanates wholly from the left side of the American divide. And as I have maintained in a couple of previous columns, it is an appallingly bankrupt ideology on its last legs, as one ugly manifestation after another can no longer be excused or ignored. A nation of fundamentally decent people of every race, color, creed and gender is rapidly reaching the point of permanent alienation from those whose power, profit and prestige depend on keeping Americans as angry and divided as possible. And the shorter their time gets, the more transparent their wretchedness becomes. Their self-anointed aura of legitimacy has been irrevocably tarnished.
“What do we want? Dead cops. When do we want it? Now!” is a stone-cold loser.
