Electrical Grid Vulnerability
Instead of worrying about the Tea Party…
Shortly after the Boston Marathon attack, there was a little-reported terrorist attack on a California power substation. In a matter of minutes, someone fired 100 rounds at the substation, disabling 17 of the 20 transformers and doing $16 million in damage. It’s only getting attention now because Jon Wellinghoff, a former chairman of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, is warning Congress of the vulnerability of our electrical grid. Maybe instead of worrying about the Tea Party, our national security apparatus should focus on real threats.
