Kinderfada: The Latest ‘Progressive’ Push in Schools
Exposing activists teaching anti-Israel hate in the classroom.
Conservatives have good reason to complain about the leftist indoctrination of our students. Public schools preach gender ideology, critical race theory, and now anti-Israel hate. Each so-called “progressive” fad is taken up by school administrators with gusto no matter how much it echos the worst parts of history.
Author and intrepid reporter Abigail Shrier has broken yet another investigative report on just such an agenda. She found that teachers unions, activist teachers, rogue school admins, and school boards have been actively infusing anti-Semitism into the curriculum. Under the guise of “ethnic studies,” students are introduced to the “oppressor vs. oppressed” narrative.
According to Shrier:
When in 2021, California Governor Gavin Newsom signed into law a requirement that schools make completion of ethnic studies a condition of graduation, he effectively made antisemitism a formal feature of California schooling. The original curriculum, “Liberated Ethnic Studies,” was so outrageously antisemitic, it was officially abandoned.
However, the next round of curriculum was much more subversive and was adopted by the school system. What sort of nonsense is taught in an ethnic studies course that is so anti-Israel? For starters, it labels Israel a settler colonizer while ignoring its ancient biblical historical claims to the land, the fact that Israeli Jews are a small minority in the entire Arab region, and Israel’s pursuit of peace treaties with its neighbors.
It also ignores the fact that Israel offered Gaza to the Palestinians to allow them to live autonomously, but the Palestinians elected Hamas terrorists to govern them. Those terrorists then systematically stole every scrap of aid and squandered it. In the majority (if not all) of the conflicts, Israel was not the aggressor. In fact, it is the Palestinians’ own fault that Israel erected such a strict border between itself and the Gaza Strip due to an intifada wherein Palestinian terrorists committed a series of suicide bombings, killing over 100.
These historical facts are not reported because they contradict the narrative.
Like with gender studies and critical race theory, the permeation of this hateful and inaccurate worldview infects the entire curriculum. According to Shrier, “Especially in the year since the Hamas massacre of Israelis on October 7, 2023, the anti-Israel materials have become pervasive. It’s not surprising that they are found in world history and current events lessons. But demonization of Israel is now taught in art, English, math, physics, and social-emotional learning classes.”
Activist teachers apply the same strategies they employ to hide their radicalism from parents. They password-protect what they don’t want parents to see, they figure out ways to get their students to attend protests without getting in trouble, and they use their positions of power to humiliate and intimidate the Jewish students in their midst. Worst of all, they are protected by school administrators who are too afraid or too impotent to act.
Progressives love to preach tolerance and acceptance, but in practice, they are the most divisive and hateful bunch of people you will ever meet. They want to divide parents from children (gender ideology) and white people from everyone else (critical race theory). Now, Jewish people are in the pressure cooker of hate. By leftists’ own logic, they are oppressing a religious and ethnic minority that represents 2.4% of the U.S. population. Leftism is the controlling ideology in most public schools, yet radical progressive educators, the ones in power, have the audacity to talk about how “oppressive” Israel is?
Look in the bloody mirror.
This radical “ethnic studies” agenda should have no place in our public schools. Now that it’s out in the open, thanks to reporters like Abigail Shrier, hopefully, the brave parent groups will help put an end to the madness. This kinderfada should not be allowed to take root in the minds of our children any longer. Such ideology should be eradicated from our public schools entirely.
