A Travel Guide for Trump Refugees
The Washington Post recommends five destination countries for disillusioned Trump haters.
For Democrat voters who are so beside themselves about Donald Trump’s electoral victory that they can no longer handle living in the greatest nation on earth, The Washington Post recently offered some destination advice.
In a piece titled “Dreaming of a move abroad? What it takes to immigrate to 5 countries,” the Post suggests five countries for disaffected leftists: Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, and Ireland. The article then breaks down its recommendations with four factors it deems essential: weather, political outlook, healthcare, and ease of immigration.
But notice those five countries. Not only do they have a common language, English; they also happen to be majority white. What about all that leftist concern about diversity? In contrast, the U.S. might be more ethnically diverse than all five of those countries combined.
The real reason, though, might be that all of these countries are more on the socialist side of the political spectrum. Furthermore, don’t value freedom of speech like we do — and that’s saying something, given the censorship practiced in America by the leftists running most universities and Big Tech companies.
One of the challenges that the Post notes is how difficult it is for Americans to expatriate to any of these countries. While simply traveling for a visit is no big deal, the prospect of relocating is not so simple. Indeed, these five countries take immigration much more seriously than Democrats and the Biden administration have. Just because an American wants to live in one of these countries doesn’t mean he’ll be allowed to.
Then there’s the economic factor. Moving out of the world’s largest economy might not be as feasible as some may assume. The cost of living is generally higher in these countries, and job opportunities are more limited, especially for expats.
Thus, it’s not surprising that after the initial shock and anger over Trump’s election wears off, the drive to leave the U.S. tends to dry up. There certainly wasn’t a mass exit after his win in 2016, and we doubt we’ll see one in the coming months. Even more so, we hope they soon realize that the nation has not been taken over by some fascist dictator when many of Trump’s actions and decisions end up providing a more positive outcome.
Unfortunately for the rest of us, this is why the “I’m leaving the country” crowd almost never follows through on its threat and promises.
As mentioned above, the U.S. is the greatest country on the planet. It is also the best place for an American to live. Is it any wonder that masses of migrants are willing to risk life and limb for a chance to live in America? Border crossing and illegal immigration wouldn’t be an issue if America were as bad as the Left incessantly claims it is.
Here’s an idea: How about we trade every leftist who wants to leave America for a migrant who wants to live, work, and genuinely assimilate in this great nation? Maybe the Trump administration could start a new migrant swap program, a raging never-Trumper for a migrant. It’s a win-win scenario.
