“I was born in 1934 and lived in a small town in Western New York. From 1935 to 1955, our home was occupied by my parents, my grandmother, my great-grandmother, and four children. We had one automobile, one big Philco radio, and one TV in the late ‘40s. My father’s salary was $25,000 annually — that was a lot of money, but we never had multiple cars, TVs, etc. Today, a family will have as many cars, TVs, and cellphones as there are people. “Embedded resistance to fiscal responsibility is the best defense for term limits. The longer they stay, the more manipulative they become. It is the nature of politicians that they first act as if they serve the people, followed by the learning of how to be self-serving.
