Bart’s Betrayal
Stupak claims he was conned.
Bart Stupak, the former congressional Democrat and self-proclaimed pro-life stalwart, was key to the passage of ObamaCare in 2010. He garnered 15 minutes of fame by demanding that no federal funding through ObamaCare would be used for abortions. He won an ambiguous executive order and some local airport funding to grease the skids, voted for the law and then lost his re-election bid. Now private citizen Stupak says he was conned, and he’s now “proud to stand with” Hobby Lobby and Conestoga Wood as both companies sue the administration over the contraception mandate. We “should not be required to relinquish our conscience and moral convictions in order to implement the Affordable Care Act,” he said. We might feel sorry for him if he hadn’t relinquished his own conscience in order to vote for the law.
