The Demo/DSA v. American Liberty

The Democrat Party has a communist problem, and it is a perilous threat to American Liberty.

“Guard with jealous attention the public liberty. Suspect every one who approaches that jewel. Unfortunately, nothing will preserve it but downright force. Whenever you give up that force, you are inevitably ruined.” —Patrick Henry (1788)

So, you have been hearing a lot lately about the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA), an organization founded by leftist Michael Harrington back in 1982 in response to the election of Ronald Reagan.

It was then, as it is now, a confab of emotionally incontinent “adults” chronically entrenched in adolescent pathologies, whose common afflictions have woven them together. And it is now attracting some Demo politicians who share those afflictions, and other Demos desperate for votes.

The DSA adherents openly subscribe to failed Marxist ideologies. They are disciples of Demo hate hustlers who are devoted to the so-called “climate change” cult as a platform to undermine free markets, and the gender confusion cult as a platform to undermine both family and faith, the founding pillars of American Liberty.

Their national co-chair, Megan Romer, outlined a few of the current DSA plans, which include, among other things, abolishing the Senate, defunding the Pentagon, supporting government ownership of large corporations, abolishing ICE, and abolishing our borders.

The DSA, which now claims more than 120,000 members, insists it is not a political group. But the second election of Donald Trump has breathed new life into its followers and congealed its agenda. Thus, it has gotten a lot of attention in our pages this past year because it’s become the de facto umbrella organization for the latest iteration of Marxist politicians across our nation.

As with the stable of billionaire backers of leftist movements in America over the last decade, the current backers of DSA candidates also include billionaires, mostly inheritance-welfare leftists who have no connection with the proletariat they claim to support.

If you can’t quite get your arms around who the miscreant protagonists of this movement are, there was one campaign this week that makes it clear.

Indicative of the fracture the DSA has created in the Democrat Party nationally was the Demo Senate race primary in Michigan, which pitted radical Abdul El-Sayed against dullard Rep. Haley Stevens — a communist versus a socialist.

El-Sayed is Michigan’s iteration of DSA kingmaker Zohran Mamdani in New York, and Maine’s former DSA Senate candidate Graham Platner, now displaced by another socialist, Troy Jackson.

Stevens’s endorsements are indicative of the Demo/DSA division. She won the support of Michigan’s sitting Demo Gov. Gretchen Whitmer and former Demo Gov. Jennifer Granholm. She also had the support of the retiring Democrat Sen. Gary Peters, whose seat she is seeking, and former Democrat Sen. Debbie Stabenow.

In fact, Stevens had the support of the Michigan Democrat Party. But it wasn’t enough to derail El-Sayed.

After the most expensive Democrat Senate primary contest in history, of the more than 1.5 million votes cast, El-Sayed won by less than 1% — 15,000 votes.

It must have been fans of the vilest of leftist influencers supporting El-Sayed, Hasan Piker, who pushed him over the top after their visit Monday.

Now, Democrats are stuck with this dupe.

His general election opponent, Mike Rogers, summed it up: “The crazy train has arrived in Michigan, with Bernie Sanders throwing coal in the boiler and AOC as the engineer.”

Abdul El-Sayed, the son of Egyptian immigrants, grew up in Detroit amid Michigan’s hotbeds of Islamic extremism, Dearborn and Hamtramck. Like many of today’s DSA cadre, El-Sayed realized the American Dream: He was a good student in high school; was “educated” at the University of Michigan, Oxford, and Columbia; and is the former director of the health services department of Wayne County, which includes Detroit. And like others in the DSA ranks, he now resents the opportunities that gave him rise.

El-Sayed insists, “I’m simply not a socialist.”

True. He is simply a Marxist communist.

Predictably, he was endorsed by the socialist “Squad,” the leftist “Gang of Four” extremists in the House — Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), Ilhan Omar (D-MN), Ayanna Pressley (D-MA), and Rashida Tlaib (D-MI). Now joining their gang are Reps. Summer Lee (D-PA), Delia Ramirez (D-IL), and Greg Casar (D-TX), who have also endorsed El-Sayed.

Notably, the politicians backing El-Sayed have been indoctrinated over the last decade by the “Authoritarian Enemies of Liberty” — Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Chuck Schumer (D-NY) — who themselves became ideological adherents of Barack Obama two decades ago.

Conveniently, they and the rest of El-Sayed’s Senate and House enemies of Liberty endorsers are listed on his endorsement page, so the whole country can see who they are. That list includes the most outspoken socialists in the Senate — Bernie Sanders (S-VT), Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), Ed Markey (D-MA), Chris Van Hollen (D-MD), and Tina Smith (D-MN) — as well as their understudies in the House: Ro Khanna (D-CA), Pramila Jayapal (D-WA), and a gaggle of other House members. It also includes a list of state and local officials about whom every Michigander should be concerned.

Notably, this week, even Kamala Harris is getting on board with the DSA platform ahead of her 2028 campaign, picking up their populist proposals to eliminate the Electoral College and expand the Supreme Court.

But the DSA’s effort to destroy the Republic is taking fire from some notable Demos across the country who still have a rudimentary connection with reality.

Sen. Mark Kelly (D-AZ) laments: “There are folks out there that say things that just don’t make sense to the American people. … ‘Get rid of the border.’ ‘Defund the Pentagon.’ … Those things don’t make sense.”

Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA) says: “A bunch of people sit around in the room and say, ‘How much kind of crazy [crap] can we cram into our platform? … Abolish prisons, abolish the border, abolish the presidency, abolish the Pentagon — I mean, these are crazy people. … They’re behaving in truly bizarre ways, and that seems like what the DSA wants more and more. … Socialism — that should be the unacceptable view in the Democratic Party. We all should be capitalist.”

Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL) concludes that as a result of these high-profile DSA candidates, “We’re going to be accused of being everything from Marxists to socialists to communists no matter what in the hell we do.”

Rep. Josh Gottheimer (D-NJ) protests: “Literally they’re supporting the Communist Manifesto and Trotsky. They’re anti-American. They’re anti-cop. They don’t believe in borders.”

Rep. Tom Suozzi (D-NY) declared: “I don’t ascribe to any of those ideas at all, and I think that there’s very little support for those ideas. … The Democrats are going to have to deal with this group.”

Grizzled and grumpy Demo strategist James Carville warned this week that supporters of extremists like El-Sayed are “too hard-headed to know that they’re not popular,” and says if they succeed, they will do it without him as a member of the Democrat Party. But these socialists certainly are popular in their echo chambers.

Democrat lawyer and major fundraiser John Morgan summed it up: “It’s Cuba. It’s Venezuela. They believe that there’s this utopian state out there that can survive. … The crazy thing is, we built this democracy based on capitalism and all the freedoms. … And now we’re talking about dismantling it all.”

The Democrat Party has a communist problem, and while that is a perilous threat to American Liberty, it also puts the Party at risk of imploding. Some of the Democrat Party’s problems are surfacing.

As our Douglas Andrews notes about the Demos’ financial woes, “The Democrats ought to be rolling in cash and ready to retake Congress from the Republicans, but instead they’re on the verge of civil war.” As of late June, according to Federal Election Commission reports, the DNC had $16 million in cash on hand and $18 million in debt. At the end of June, the Republican National Committee had $128 million cash on hand.

So, are Demo voters as crazy as their Party protagonists?

It turns out that a supermajority of Democrat voters support capitalism over socialism. But their party leaders refuse to disavow the DSA, avoiding questions about their radical platform and allowing their extremism to metastasize because the “big tent” Demos can’t afford to alienate the DSA constituency.

However, the populist appeal of the DSA should not be underestimated. According to a CNN poll, a third of Democrats now identify as “democrat socialists,” which assumes more than a few of these younger respondents actually know what a democrat socialist is.

Of course, what would you expect from young voters when Randi Weingarten, the head of the American Federation of Teachers, whose members are indoctrinating these youth, is a card-carrying commie?

To those adolescent voters flirting with socialism, my friend Allen West warns: “My simple message to the young people out there who think Marxism is cool: It ain’t, because free does not equal freedom. And the inability to think and reason for yourself is intellectual enslavement.”

Stanford University’s Hoover Institution historian Victor Davis Hanson says: “The socialist moment is merely the logical culmination of years of boutique radicalism within the Democratic aristocracy. … The socialists and communists did not really hijack the party. Rather, these youthful radicals were spawned and nurtured by aged Democrats. They became irate over their impotence and loss of influence — and simply upgraded the methods and message of their elders. … Socialists did not lower the bar for extremism; establishment Democrats had already destroyed that standard altogether. Given all that, the Democratic Socialists of America scarcely had to be invented.”

Of the rise of Democrat Party communists, VDH observes: “The more the ossified Democratic Party claims that its growing cadre of socialist renegades are not really socialists, the more they act like — and even appear comfortable being called — communists. With every new policy they propose, the socialists have been dropping the pretense that they are not Marxists.”

Podcaster Mike Rowe put it this way: “I think there’s a lot of room for improvement in our country, and I believe the best way to realize those improvements is for Democrats and Republicans to have continuous, robust and public debate about all the issues. But if one of those parties is affirmatively determined to transform our democratic republic into a communist state, then we’re no longer debating the various ways to make our country better; we’re debating the merits of destroying it. And really, what’s the point of tolerating that?”

Consider the fact that recently, America had a taste of statist tyranny when a narcissist bureaucrat was given the keys to the kingdom. I am referring, of course, to Anthony Fauci, who was empowered by the Biden/Harris regime to take over our economy and issue Orwellian mandates, ostensibly because of the ChiCom Virus pandemic. Never again, please.

For those who are now under the thumb of the socialists they elected, legendary journalist and satirist Henry Louis Mencken observed, “Democracy is the theory that the common people know what they want, and deserve to get it good and hard.”

Next up: In neighboring Wisconsin, Democratic Socialist candidate Francesca Hong is poised to win that state’s Democrat primary for governor.
