More Midterm Blues for Demos
Poll worse than four years ago.
A new poll may foretell even worse midterm results for Democrats than the shellacking they suffered four years ago. According to a Pew Research-USA Today analysis, 47% of respondents either “support the Republican candidate in their district or lean Republican,” compared to 44% in March 2010. In contrast, 43% lean Democrat, down 1% from four years ago. Republican turnout usually outperforms Democrats at the ballot box during midterms, adding to the pressure Democrats face this fall. The most pivotal question this time around is: Can Republicans regain control of the Senate? Let’s hope so.
