“House Republicans emerged from a classified briefing on the release of Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl Monday night angry that Obama administration officials told them little new information,” reports The Hill. “I didn’t learn anything in the briefing that I didn’t already know,” said Rep. Jeff Miller (R-FL). But that depends on how you define your terms. The administration is coming out with new rationales and excuses all the time. The new one they gave Congress Monday was that it was Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel, not Barack Obama, who made the final call on the prisoner swap. The buck stops over there. Only the White House insisted Tuesday that the buck does stop with Obama. On top of that, Rep. Michelle Bachmann (R-MN) said, “They made it clear that there were 80 to 90 people who knew ahead of time about the Bergdahl release.” Yet the administration refused to tell Congress for fear of “leaks.” The administration should “try telling the truth,” observed Fox News analyst Charles Krauthammer. “It’s easier to memorize.” More…
