Counting the Gays
CDC finds only 3% of adults are.
Homosexual advocacy groups hailed a new effort by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to gather data on the number of homosexuals in the country. But the study only confirmed what we’ve known for a long time – homosexuals are a minuscule minority of the adult population. The Washington Post reports, “The National Health Interview Survey, which is the government’s premier tool for annually assessing Americans’ health and behaviors, found that 1.6 percent of adults self-identify as gay or lesbian, and 0.7 percent consider themselves bisexual.” Another 1.1% responded, “I don’t know the answer,” or that they are “something else.” Assuming those who “don’t know” are in the same category, that’s slightly more than 3% of the population.
