Leftist Apologizes for Jabs at Bush’s Vacations
Oh how times have changed. When George W. Bush took off for vacation, it was the liberal pundits who skewered the president for doing so. Now, when their man hop-skips over to Martha’s Vineyard to play a few rounds of golf, the tables are turned. And some apologies are in order. Bill Burton, a former press secretary for Barack Obama, slipped in an apology to Bush at the end of a piece he wrote for Politico: “I don’t remember, but I assume that I was one of the many Democrats who gleefully took shots at President George W. Bush for the time he spent at Crawford – and if so I regret it. Presidents are better for having time out of Washington, even better for time away with their families.” Burton is only apologizing because Obama is taking so much heat for his hypocrisy that his minions have to reverse their criticism of Bush in order to lend an air of legitimacy to Obama’s actions. Yes, every president goes on vacation at some point. But timing is critical. When the world burns, it is not a good time to clear your head. More…
