White House Thinks Coalition Is 'Coming Together Very Nicely'

You can count on your hands the number of countries that have joined Barack Obama’s coalition against ISIL. But according to the White House, “Based on the very strong statements we’re seeing from public officials representing these other governments, there is a clear indication this coalition is coming together very nicely.” So claimed White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest to reporters on Monday, whose assertion is hardly reassuring. The Washington Times notes, “So far, Saudi Arabia has agreed to help the U.S. train moderate Syrian rebels, but few other commitments have emerged.” Earnest apparently believes “very strong statements” signify bedrock support in the same way Obama’s sternly worded warnings helped Ukraine.
