ObamaCare Fines to Triple
You may not be able to keep your doctor or your health plan like Barack Obama promised, and you may not have the money to afford one of those ObamaCare insurance plans Democrats pledged would be affordable. Regardless, if you decide to forgo coverage next year, expect the fine to triple. “Uninsured Americans who decide not to enroll will face a penalty of $325 per person, more than tripling the $95 penalty those who did not enroll had to pay the first time around,” reports CBS DC. “Children under the age of 18 will be fined $162.50. The maximum amount an uninsured family will be penalized is $975 under the flat-rate method.” According to insurance analyst Laura Adams, “The penalty is meant to incentivize people to get coverage. This year, I think a lot of people are going to be in for a shock. There is very little awareness of this. Until people understand the financial consequences, they don’t have an incentive.” In other words, you are damned if you do, damned if you don’t. Millions of Americans will still be better off financially eating the fine despite the increase, but noncompliance will only result in stiffer penalties down the road. Hopefully enough people will come to their senses and repeal this horrendous law before that happens. More…
