CNN/ORC Poll: Bush Surges to 2016 GOP Frontrunner
CNN promotes Bush? Wonder why… The cable news network reports, “Jeb Bush is the clear Republican presidential frontrunner, surging to the front of the potential GOP pack following his announcement that he’s ‘actively exploring’ a bid, a new CNN/ORC poll found. He takes nearly one-quarter – 23% – of Republicans surveyed in the new nationwide poll, putting him 10 points ahead of his closest competitor, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, who tallied 13%.” For the record, the “poll” cited by CNN is not of registered voters, but is nothing more than a name-recognition poll of adult respondents in a week when speculation about Bush has all the news outlets abuzz. The poll data even notes that there were more Democrats interviewed than Republicans. Thus Bush is not the “2016 GOP frontrunner” but simply the most recognizable name among GOP candidates. If CNN wants to back up that headline, then do it with a poll of registered Republicans. This poll is a fine example of “Pollaganda – Political Polling as Propaganda.”
