Even Planned Parenthood Allies Lose Cash
The fallout from the undercover Planned Parenthood video continues, and it’s hitting even allies of the nation’s largest abortion provider. The Breast Cancer Awareness Commemorative Coin Act was uncontroversial until the video was released. But then conservatives in the House moved to strip as much as $4.75 million from the Susan G. Komen Foundation because it is a large supporter of Planned Parenthood. Komen came under fire in 2012 when it was revealed the breast cancer organization gives hundreds of thousands to Planned Parenthood every year (they swear it’s earmarked for non-abortion procedures). As The Daily Signal now reports, “As originally introduced, the funds raised from [the Breast Cancer Awareness Commemorative Coin Act] would have been granted to both Komen and the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. The amended version of the bill will only grant funds to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. It was passed in a 421-9 vote Wednesday.” Now if only the vote to completely defund Planned Parenthood of all tax dollars is so successful.
Meanwhile, Planned Parenthood CEO Cecile Richards “apologized” for the “tone” of the recorded remarks, but her message was 99.9% attack on pro-lifers. Besides, if Deborah Nucatola’s callous conversation about not “crushing” too many of an aborted baby’s useful organs or parts is merely a problem of tone, that means nothing for the actions of doctors who practice such awful things and have the gall to call it “humanitarian.”
