Before Running, Trump Asked Clinton for Advice
Maybe Donald Trump really is a Democrat mole.
Maybe Donald Trump really is, in the words of political commentator George Will, “a Democratic mole placed in the Republican Party to disrupt things.” In May, weeks before the reality TV personality announced his bid for the Republican nomination for president, Trump placed a call to Bill Clinton. The Washington Post confirmed the story with four “Trump allies” and one person close to the husband of the Democrat candidate for president. According to the Trumpsters, Trump was looking for advice about his possible foray into politics. Clinton was encouraging, telling Trump that there were Republicans dissatisfied in the party. According to the Clinton aide, the conversation was only a casual chat; Clinton never encouraged Trump to run. Still, the incident illustrates the less-than-chilly relationship Trump has with the Clinton machine. He’s donated to the Clinton Foundation. Hillary Clinton sat in the front row at his third wedding. Those who are dissatisfied with the Republican Party can find a better candidate than one who goes to the Clintons for advice.
