Puzder Drops Out
Growing questions from Republicans and union opposition proved to be too much.
Andrew Puzder, Donald Trump’s pick for labor secretary, withdrew from consideration on Wednesday. He stated, “While I won’t be serving in the administration, I fully support the president and his highly qualified team.” The mainstream media has tried to paint this latest incident coming on the heels of Michael Flynn’s resignation as signs that the Trump White House is in chaotic disarray.
The reality is that it had little to do with the White House and much more to do with growing concerns among Republicans over Puzder’s soft views on illegal immigration, combined with Democrats motivated by union concerns. More than likely, Puzder recognized that the odds had moved against him and he decided to bow out before an inevitable defeat.
What is clear now more than ever is that Democrats have committed themselves to become the party of obstruction. It is highly unlikely that any of Trump’s remaining nominees will garner a single vote from these Obstructocrats. As a result, Republicans are going to need to hold the line in order to get the rest of Trump’s picks confirmed. And the Leftmedia will be doing everything in their power to disrupt the process. Trump now has the unenviable record of fewest nominee confirmations at this point of any president in U.S. history. Sad!
