No Deaths in China?
The mainstream media once again swallows Chinese propaganda hook, line, and sinker.
How is China doing in combatting the coronavirus it unleashed on the world? NBC News reports China “claimed that not a single new death was reported, and the city of Wuhan in Hubei province, where the new virus was first identified, prepared for lockdown measures to be lifted.” NPR likewise touts, “China on Tuesday reported no deaths from COVID-19 for the first time since it began publishing data about the outbreak more than two months ago.” Even Fox News joined the fray, headlining, “China reports no new coronavirus deaths since outbreak began.”
Let’s begin by saying the obvious: We wish the best for the Chinese people, who are not to blame for this virus and who are victims of their own evil and oppressive government.
Humorist David Burge alluded to that, quipping, “Fun fact: China also never reported a single death at Tiananmen Square.”
Indeed, we’ll also remind American media outlets of a simple truth: Don’t trust the ChiComs. As we’ve been saying since January, the numbers reported by Beijing are not trustworthy, but are instead grossly underestimated perhaps by as much as 95%.
And as for NBC’s report mentioned above, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) issued a blistering rebuttal, saying, “Under the Foreign Agents Registration Act, 22 USC 611 et seq, I’m pretty sure NBC is now legally obligated to close every broadcast with — and append to every tweet — ‘this message paid for by the Communist Party of China.’” Former UN Ambassador Nikki Haley added, “This is embarrassing. You discredit yourself when you tout China’s propaganda.”
We suppose the media is simply too busy “fact-checking” every utterance from President Donald Trump on hydroxychloroquine to worry about whether the ChiComs might be lying.
