Kimmel on Pence: Fake Jab and Phony Apology
The late-night “comedian” wades into fake news to make a joke, then jabs again.
Late-night TV host Jimmy Kimmel has already “won” awards for serial misogyny and for hypocrisy and narcissism. So why not add fake news to the list?
The Dispatch relays the basic facts:
During the monologue of his show Thursday night, Jimmy Kimmel shared a clip of Vice President Mike Pence at Woodbine Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Alexandria, Virginia, earlier that day. In the video, the vice president assists in unloading personal protective equipment from a truck and upon being told that they were finished aside from a few empty boxes, Pence asks: “Well can I carry the empty ones? Just for the camera?”
Kimmel pounded Pence, saying, “Mike Pence pretending to carry empty boxes of PPE’s into a hospital is the perfect metaphor for who he is and what he’s doing: a big box of nothing, delivering another box of nothing.” Supposedly legitimate news sources picked up on Kimmel’s “report” as real news.
The trouble for the alleged comedian is that, well, he missed the joke — Pence was kidding. The full video reveals that Pence had already been carrying full boxes and was merely light-heartedly teasing about the photo-op.
Later on social media, Kimmel offered a backhanded “apology,” saying, “It would appear that [Vice President Pence] was joking about carrying empty boxes for a staged publicity stunt. The full video reveals that he was carrying full boxes for a staged publicity stunt. My apologies. I know how dearly this administration values truth.”
This administration is not the problem. Leftmedia loudmouths like Kimmel clearly detest the truth so long as they can make the Trump administration look bad. The truth? That’s Trump Derangement Syndrome.
