Biden’s DHS Turns U.S. Into Illegal Alien Sanctuary
Alejandro Mayorkas expands “protected areas” for illegals to be free from ICE to include most every public area.
Adding yet another element that further exposes Joe Biden’s immigration policy as one of non-enforcement and de facto open borders, at the end of last month, Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas issued a sweeping directive effectively expanding the definition of so-called “protected areas.” In these “protected areas” that are common to nearly every community across the country, federal immigration enforcement officials are largely prohibited from surveilling, tracking, and arresting illegal aliens.
Like kids on a playground, it seems illegals can yell “Base!” and the feds can do nothing.
“ICE already had a sensitive locations policy that largely prohibited enforcement in religious institutions, at weddings, at hospitals, and at marked school bus stops when children are present, for example,” The Federalist reports. “The Biden administration’s new ‘protected areas’ policy is meant to look similar, but it’s an overbroad, nationwide sanctuary policy in disguise and applies to locations that aren’t even open.”
Under Mayorkas’s new rule for immigration officials, “protected areas” include but are not limited to schools, daycare facilities, childcare facilities, hospitals, medial treatment facilities, pharmacies, COVID-19 treatment locations, places of worship, places where children gather, parks, recreation centers, school bus stops, social services, domestic shelters, community-based organizations, disaster or emergency relief stations, weddings, funerals, public demonstrations, parades, rallies, food distribution centers, etc. It might be simpler to list the locations where law enforcement can apprehend illegal aliens.
Furthermore, the new guidelines make clear that the above list of “protected areas” is far from exhaustive. Mayorkas admitted as much when he said there was “no bright-line definition.” But of course he writes off the intentional ambiguity for promoting the “noble” goal of “advancing our country’s well-being” by ensuring that illegal aliens can, without fearing of being picked up by ICE, gain access to “essential services.”
Meanwhile, Biden and Mayorkas are not giving a second thought to the fact that their actions are sacrificing the safety of America’s communities and her citizens. Biden is ensuring that more Americans suffer higher crime as his administration intentionally hampers the ability of federal immigration officials to do their jobs. Where is the sanctuary for American citizens to be free from illegal immigration and all the communal damage and societal cost it brings?
Again, Biden’s policy boils down to two words: Open borders.
