Re: “What Did Trump Really Say About the Constitution?”
I agree. Beating the “stolen election” issue is akin to beating the dead horse. Trump must shut his pie hole until he can project a genuine, positive, electable agenda. —Florida
Although The Donald did a great job while in office, and while the 2020 election throws up a LOT of question marks, to suggest that the Constitution should be invalidated, suspended, or otherwise be considered irrelevant is disqualifying for the Office of President. Even if the statement is a malapropism, the person committing such an egregious error is disqualified simply because such an absurd error was uttered and not immediately corrected. Makes one think that perhaps it was not an error after all. We need a strong business type in the White House, but it needs to be someone who can speak without sounding like an idiot. I’m confident such people exist; they are probably just too smart to run. —Florida
Re: “In Brief: Democrats ‘Terminate’ the Constitution All the Time”
The Democrats have embraced — long before the movie Casablanca was created — the spirit of Capt. Louis Renault, who, when quietly presented with his gambling winnings in Rick’s cafe, indignantly exclaimed: “I’m shocked — shocked — to find that gambling is going on in here.” Hence, cue the dramatic pearl-clutching and fainting-couch-searching of Democrat leaders right now. Crocodiles everywhere are envious of their tears. —Virginia
Re: “Memo to GOP: Pick Better Candidates”
In general, I think most conservatives are so busy with church, family, work, and kids that politics are far from their mind except for voting. Democrats make this their religion and their family. They can get 10 candidates for every one conservative. We had record inflation, record illegal immigration, record gas prices, record debt. The midterm election shouldn’t have even been close. But we lost a seat in the Senate and barely won the House. How is that even possible? —Illinois
Is there actually a living person out there with character, honesty, and integrity who is a true Christian who even wants the job? Any person possessing these qualities would be so hounded and mistreated by the Left that his life would be miserable. The Left would not only be after the candidate but his family, his wife, and children. Is it worth it anymore? —Texas
Re: “First Amendment on Trial”
I hope SCOTUS keeps it simple using the Constitution. It would minimize the endless legal battles on the issue. I was listening to a radio show today and they were discussing this case. One of the hosts made a comment that summed it up quite well. He said, “What if I went into a Muslim bake shop and asked the baker to make me a cake with Muhammad’s face on it?” I thought that was a direct hit and should end the conversation, but we will have to wait and see. The Colorado AG wants to change the topic. Someone tell him we’re not blowing up civil rights; we’re asking for a bit of sanity and common sense. Maybe we should ask a Muslim holy man to marry a gay couple and report the response. Will that make it more clear? —Oregon
