Using a Paring Knife

Gee Whiz, and golly gee, some backseat congressman is proposing a $20 billon cut to the budget. That sounds fantastic. That is proposing to use a paring knife when a meat cleaver is needed! In 1932 TOTAL spending was a monumental $12.4 billion, the Federal deficit was a bank-breaking $1.6 billion and America’s debt was $38.7 billion.

Get real. A twelve-year old is smart enough to recognize that with no credit and only $1.17 in his pocket, he can’t by a PlayStation III. Let’s extrapolate from there. Mom and Dad, with $4,000 in the bank and an almost non-existent line of credit, cannot buy that four bedroom colonial with a swimming pool on an acre of property.

Oh sure, Chris Dodd and Barney Frank convinced Fannie May and Freddie Mack to over extend credit. Dad and Mom were able to move in to their dream house which was soon foreclosed upon. The twelve year old with no fragile line of credit, mowed a couple of more lawns and washed a couple more cars and soon had the money to buy that PlayStation III, and no debt.

Bad decisions and major theft amounting to high crimes and misdemeanors by members of our elected caretakers, better known as the corrupt 535, spent, borrowed and spent more and borrowed some more until at the very moment I put these words to paper America’s debt is over $14 TRILLION, OR OVER $45,000 per citizen or almost $128,000 per taxpayer.

We cannot stop this hemorrhage with a band aid. We absolutely MUST chop all the fat and some of the lean out of Obama’s budget. Little 20 billion dollar pinches are insufficient. I have suggested before and now I demand that every Federal elected official take an instant 50% cut in any monies to which they are now entitled and for a period of at least 2 years. In addition, reduce the federal contribution to CSRS and FERS by $100 per month for the next 24 months. Reduce by $3000 the salaries of every civil service employee for the next five years. Reduce by 25% the total emoluments paid to all General Officers. Leave the rest of the Military as they are.

Assess every taxpayer at least $10 dollars per month for the next two years. Levy a 50% penalty on all funds in the hands of illegal aliens when caught and identified. Intercept and verify that no US funds are being transmitted to foreign counties by US Postal Mail, AMEX or other means. Confiscate all such funds. Actually a minuscule amount, but right and proper.

By my gross calculations such actions should increase revenues and/or cut outlays by an estimated $4,500,000,000.

Now for the big cut, Americans are going to be required to suck in their gut and get us out of the RED and into the black.

310 million Americans contributing just $10 per month for 24 months amounts to another $74 trillion for a grand total of almost $79 trillion.

This is attainable if the body wills it so.

Congressman Paul Ryan could make this work – there is a lot of wiggle room; worth the effort if we get ourselves out of debt and have that $1.17 to buy the PlayStation III.
