Re: A Tough Speech Case at the Supreme Court
“These private companies have a right, protected by the First Amendment, to control what speech will be expressed on their platforms. That’s not the problem. The problem is that Section 230 shields them from the consequences of exercising editorial control, protection that was afforded only with the expectation that they were UNABLE to control content. Remove that protection and let them be held legally liable for their part in, say, encouraging and enabling a ‘mostly peaceful’ riot somewhere. Once their one-sided bias starts carrying a cost, the problem will solve itself.” —Georgia
“Controlling speech is also controlling the free dissemination of information — controlling what people hear, i.e., information they need to make wise and informed decisions. Anything that limits or interferes with that free flow of information is a violation of the right to be heard and the right to hear. It is, plain and simple, psychological manipulation, indoctrination, and brainwashing of the population. If media, traditional or social, is unwilling to allow the full spread of information from ALL corners, they don’t deserve to be in business. This is the USA, not the USSR or China or any other thought-control nation.” —California
“In today’s Big Lies, everything could be fixed by Joe Biden writing the following executive order: ‘I hereby rescind all EOs related to the border signed by me and reinstate all of Donald Trumps EOs related to the border.’ Problem solved. Also, if they need money for new agents, try taking some already budgeted for all of those 87K IRS personnel. As for Hunter Biden, not involving his father in his business is complete crap. My dad asked me every time I saw him how work was going and what I was doing (though he didn’t understand what I said). Joe asked, and Hunter made him ‘the brand.’ I only have one question: Hunter, what product did you sell? Even as a consultant, I had to produce SOMETHING. What was it? I know — access to Joe.” —Illinois
Re: Biden’s Collaboration in the Murder of Laken Riley
“This is an astounding indictment of Biden’s open-border policy, rich with actual data on violent crime by illegal aliens. But the name ‘Laken Riley’ will be plowed under by the Democrats’ media outlets in a week, and they will focus on Biden laughably blaming Republicans for the border crisis.” —Massachusetts
Re: Athens Mayor Deflects Blame for Laken Riley’s Murder
“If these elected officials fail to do the job of securing the population, they should be fired. Why aren’t they being held accountable? It is because they think they know better than the people who were fooled into electing them, and they know that the people are lazy.” —Washington
“I seem to recall a highly publicized incident at Fisherman’s wharf and a young woman who was shot to death by ‘an undocumented worker.’ There was some question about ‘sanctuary’ in that case as well. Do the job descriptions of the mayors of these cities include articles requiring the protection of criminals before the electorate?” —Texas
Re: New York Times: Registered Voters Spank Biden, Again
“Trump’s biggest problem with minorities is his mouth. He can’t keep it shut. Trump’s biggest problem with voters is they can’t separate personality from leadership and organizational skills. The biggest problem with our nation is our psychologically manipulative far-left media controlling the thinking/voting of too many of us. In 2024, the winner doesn’t matter. Nobody can un-foul what the Democrat Party has done via Biden in his one term.” —California
“Perception is a big part of effective authority. Biden is perceived as weak and we find ourselves involved in three wars — four if you count Texas. Trump pushed back against our enemies and did not involve us in wars. That is almost like peace, which I prefer. He forced conversations with Russia, China, North Korea, and Iran. That’s why we hired him. Elections are still being marketed as popularity contests when they are in fact job interviews.” —Washington
“Definitely. Mitch McConnell gets a well-deserved ‘attaboy’ for his leadership in securing confirmations for Donald Trump’s three Supreme Court nominees, along with dozens of lower-court judges. But I’m glad he recognizes that ‘know[ing] when it’s time to move on’ is a valuable talent. Too bad that wasn’t a talent he possessed when it WAS his time, several years ago.” —Georgia
“When I was in boot for PLC Program USMC in ‘65, all of us were polite college boys and thanked our sergeants for everything they did. Their reply was always the same: 'Don’t thank me, candidate. I’m just doing my job.’ I would say to Mitch the same thing: It was your job, so don’t expect any thanks.” —Minnesota
Re: Harvard’s Anti-Semitism Task Force Disaster
“It’s real simple, folks: If you’re Jewish, quit contributing any money toward Harvard. And any Jewish student should transfer to another school. The college survives only through donations and excessive admission fees. Take away its pocketbook!” —Washington
Re: Leftist Bigots Unload on White Rural Voters
“Coastal elites and their representatives in DC confiscate tax dollars from the white rural voters, while largely exempting themselves through carveouts, loopholes, and unfair deductions for state income taxes. They then use those tax dollars to bribe the poor, gullible, lazy, and ignorant in exchange for votes. Meanwhile, they hold BOTH groups in contempt.” —Georgia
“Good article. I have lived my whole life in southeast Illinois, and it’s pretty rural. I harbor no rage or hate for anyone. These two supposed scholars/journalists are just trying to transfer the blame for what their leftist friends are doing. I have lived my life by the motto ‘God, Family, and Country.’ That is what I believe in. It’s also why I cannot vote for a Democrat, because they believe in none of that.” —Illinois
