Twelve Young Israelis Killed in Hezbollah Attack

Yet the shameful leftist radicals would still have us believe Israel is to blame.

The peace of the day was shattered by sirens warning of incoming missiles, but it was not enough warning time for anyone to take shelter. The rocket, reportedly directed from outside a small town in southern Lebanon, struck a soccer field and killed 12 ranging from 10-20 years of age.

Furthermore, according to the Times of Israel, “Baruch Padeh Medical Center near Tiberias said four people in serious condition were brought to the hospital. Ziv Medical Center in Safed said it admitted 32 wounded, including six being treated in the trauma ward, 13 in moderate-to-serious condition, and 10 who were lightly hurt. Another four casualties were taken to Rambam Medical Center in Haifa.”

The terrorist group Hezbollah has always been a greater security threat to Israel than Hamas. It has more military power and is a larger organization. It is also an Iranian proxy.

Many Leftmedia outlets like the Associated Press have reported that Hezbollah has not taken credit for this attack, noting that it was unusual for Hezbollah not to take credit — clearly implying that maybe the terrorists are telling the truth. However, the AP didn’t report the whole story on that narrative. According to the Times of Israel, “Hezbollah initially claimed responsibility for launching a barrage of Katyusha rockets and a single heavy Falaq rocket at a nearby military base. As news emerged of the heavy rocket hitting the Druze town, and the deadly outcome of the strike, the terror group issued a statement that it had ‘absolutely nothing to do with the incident.’”

Other forensic clues also point to this rocket being from Hezbollah. It was an Iranian-manufactured Falaq-1 rocket, which is only used by Hezbollah.

Israel responded with its typical strength. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that Israel “will not let this pass in silence” and that Hezbollah “will pay a heavy price for this attack, one that it has not paid so far.”

Foreign Affairs Minister Israel Katz warned, “There is no doubt that Hezbollah has crossed all the red lines here, and the response will reflect that. We are nearing the moment in which we face an all-out war.”

The AP wasn’t the only left-wing rag to distort the truth. The Washington Post wins the prize for most dishonest reporting. WaPo’s cover featured a picture of a distraught family and a little girl’s framed photo in the middle. The headline states, “Israel hits targets in Lebanon,” implying that the little girl was a victim of Israeli retaliation. Actually, she was a victim of the Hezbollah rocket attack. But that doesn’t matter when the leftist narrative du jour is that Israel is bad.

Update: According to a new editor’s note, “The headline and subheadline … did not provide adequate context. The headlines should have noted that the Israeli strikes were a response to a rocket strike from Lebanon that killed 12 teenagers and children in the Israeli-controlled Golan Heights.” This wasn’t an “apology,” as some outfits describe it, so much as it was a cleanup.

In America, you see the responses to the tragedy playing out in typical fashion along party lines. Senator Tom Cotton (R-AR) said, “Iran’s terrorist proxies have again committed mass murder against innocent Israelis, mostly children. Yet Joe Biden and Kamala Harris continue to put more pressure on Israel than on Iran and the terrorists. The United States should instead back Israel to the hilt to destroy our common enemies.”

For her part, Vice President Kamala Harris didn’t comment. Instead, her national security adviser, Phil Gordon, made her sentiments known 24 hours after the event took place. Gordon relayed: “Israel continues to face severe threats to its security, and [Harris’s] support for Israel’s security is ironclad. The US will continue working on a diplomatic solution to end all attacks once and for all, and allow citizens on both sides of the border to safely return home.”

Harris is the Democrats’ likely presidential nominee, and she is unwilling to personally respond to an attack perpetrated on our closest Middle East ally. It’s hardly surprising, though, considering her behavior when Netanyahu came to speak before Congress. The only thing “ironclad” about Harris’s commitment to Israel is weakening it as a country. She is an absentee vice president who would be even more weak and feckless as president.

How long can the Left justify the world’s new axis of evil? This isn’t a moral equivalence argument. It’s about who is the aggressor. It’s about who is our strategic ally.

To borrow the sentiment of Netanyahu, apologists for the Iranian proxies Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Houthis — which are determined to exterminate the state of Israel and which see America as the great devil — are like chickens for KFC.

It is shameful how the Left is kowtowed to its radical wing and has betrayed an ally over and over again.
