‘Dead Right’ — Al Gore’s BIG Lie
His climate alarmist documentary “An Inconvenient Truth” has not aged well, as almost none of Gore’s dire predictions have materialized. He still says it’s all true.
It’s been 20 years since the release of Al Gore’s documentary “An Inconvenient Truth.” Indeed, given its myriad false claims, it might better be described as a work of fiction.
Despite this reality, the film has had an undeniable cultural impact, helping to fuel one of the biggest modern-era myths: that the only solution to anthropogenic climate change and its existential threat to life on Earth is big government.
Indeed, few modern-era issues have produced as much economic, social, and governmental action as has belief in this cataclysmic myth.
To be fair, Gore did not invent the climate alarmism movement, but he certainly fueled it — and profited handsomely from it.
In science, as with any truth claim, accuracy matters. However, when his inaccurate claims are raised, Al Gore simply dismisses them as the insignificant objections of climate deniers to “the reality of climate change.” As Gore put it just this week, “The scientists were dead right on all the important elements of it, and it really is insane that we are continuing to use the sky as an open sewer and we’re trapping so much heat every day it’s equal to the amount that would be released by 800,000 Hiroshima-class atomic bombs exploding every day on the earth.”
Really? What about this claim? “Within the decade, there will be no more snows of Kilimanjaro,” Gore states in the film. There is still snow on Kilimanjaro. He also predicted that Glacier National Park would be glacier-free by now. Well, the glaciers are still in the park.
He warned that the Arctic would be ice-free in the summer. There’s still Arctic ice in the summer.
Gore prophesied that hurricanes would become substantially more powerful and destructive, another failed oracle. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) observed in October 2022, “We conclude that the historical Atlantic hurricane data at this stage do not provide compelling evidence for a substantial greenhouse warming-induced century-scale increase in: frequency of tropical storms, hurricanes, or major hurricanes, or in the proportion of hurricanes that become major hurricanes.”
For climate alarmists like Al Gore, the aim is to scare people into compliance, while mocking those who dare question the narrative as rubes who are so ignorant they are denying objective reality.
The fact of the matter is, the one who is guilty of denying reality is Gore himself. When faced with the fact that his wild prophesies of climate doom failed to materialize in nearly every instance, he continues to promote the lie.
Almost no one argues that climate change is not occurring. What people reject is the still unsubstantiated claim that mankind is the primary driver of climate change, or that big government is the only solution. These claims have become a form of unscientific dogma among the purveyors of climate alarmism.
Speaking of dogma, Gore and his ilk make their mission a moral and nearly religious one. He opined, “I put it in the context of all of the other morally based challenges that humanity has confronted: the abolition of slavery, the women’s rights [movement] and women’s suffrage.”
Ironically, if Gore were truly committed to and motivated by scientific truth over and against an ideological commitment to an ecofascist narrative, then he would admit that his film was in error and fundamentally flawed in its perspective on the global climate. He would eschew the hubris of climate alarmism and embrace a humble stance of at least admitting he was wrong.
Which will happen first: That, or the polar ice caps melting?
