Manchin Wants Repeal
A Democrat comes around?
It may be four years too late, but one Democrat senator became the first to announce his desire to repeal ObamaCare. Sen. Joe Manchin of West Virginia said, “I will vote tomorrow to repeal [the Affordable Care Act], but I want to fix the problems in it.” This isn’t the first time Manchin has criticized the law. In November, after the disastrous rollout of Healthcare.gov, he said it was “more than a rollout problem – there is a product problem.” He’s right – the problem isn’t the website. Which means fixing the problems is such a large and impossible task that repeal and starting over is far preferable.
Update: No doubt after a call from the White House, Manchin later issued a self-contradictory statement saying, “I have never supported repealing the Affordable Care Act because I came to Washington to find solutions to our country’s problems.”
