False Tough-Talk
Obama talks, children stay.
Barack Obama had tough words for the families of the Central American children streaming across the border. He told ABC News, “Our message absolutely is don’t send your children unaccompanied, on trains or through a bunch of smugglers. We don’t even know how many of these kids don’t make it, and may have been waylaid into sex trafficking or killed because they fell off a train.” Obama didn’t mention his phone and pen presidency created false hope in the Central American families. But for his tough words? His bark is stronger than his bite because Tom Homan of the removal operations for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement said 87% of those children are still in the states, tied up in court proceedings.
