Solar Plant Has a ‘Dirty’ Solution to Its Cloudy Days Dilemma
A California-based solar plant, the same one that’s frying thousands of birds, has another problem to contend with – how to heat water for its operations on cloudy days. And what better way to solve the problem than burning more fossil fuels. Yes, that same “dirty” energy some environmentalists ironically claim contributes to man-made global warming. Jonathan DuHamel of the Arizona Daily Independent explains: “Bright Source Energy … is petitioning the California government, requesting permission to burn more natural gas and to emit 94,749 more tons of carbon dioxide per year. That’s the equivalent of emissions from about 16,500 automobiles. … If the permit is approved, then this ‘solar’ plant will produce about 35 percent of its electricity from fossil fuels.” Natural gas actually burns relatively clean, which makes ecofascists’ objection to it rather suspect. Still, this is just another double standard by enviros. And it’s not just birds getting burned by hypocrite enviros; Americans and the economy are as well. More…
