DOJ: Investigative Reporter ‘Out of Control’

Investigative reporter Sharyl Attkisson left her job at CBS News earlier this year because of friction inside the newsroom. Her editors were dampening her work, not airing her stories and implying she had a biased obsession with hunting down scandal in the Obama administration. Really? She’s an investigative reporter – that comes with the territory. Now, documents pried from the Department of Justice by Judicial Watch show the Obama administration was trying to block and kill stories that Attkisson was investigating about the Fast and Furious scandal. An email sent Oct. 4, 2011 to a White House deputy press secretary, a press aide for Attorney General Eric Holder said she would call Attkisson’s editor and the senior reporter at CBS to complain about the coverage. “She’s out of control,” the aide wrote. The White House’s reply? “Good. Her piece was really bad for AG [Holder].” Now that she’s independent, is she a greater thorn in the DOJ’s side? More…
