The Group Behind 9/11 Now Has Tanks

The foreign policy “success story” in Yemen continues to deteriorate as the closing of the U.S. embassy in the country has hampered the CIA’s ability to gather intelligence there. Without the intelligence, The Washington Post reports, it’s harder for the U.S. to direct drone strikes and it’s harder for U.S. Special Forces in the country to complete missions. And just when the intelligence capabilities in that country are the weakest, the U.S. needs that intelligence the most. On Thursday, a group of militants thought to be with al-Qaida stormed a Yemeni military base and made off with 28 pieces of artillery, 25 armored vehicles, 90 military vehicles and 30 tanks. That’s right, the group that brought America to its knees with 19 men and some box cutters on 9/11 disappeared into the countryside with heavy military weaponry and Obama’s foreign policy strategy will simply be as effective as slamming on the brakes on a patch of black ice.
