Oregon Student Causes Bomb Scare
So did Ahmed Mohamed. But the end results are very different.
On the outskirts of Portland, Oregon, one school was recently put on alert after an ominous-looking device was discovered on school grounds. A Sandy High School coach reportedly found a contraption that appeared to resemble a bomb inside a locker room. Fortunately, it wasn’t a bomb. Rather, an otherwise intelligent student by the name of Levi Frunk made the poor decision to bring a homemade phone charger to school.
Officials reacted by evacuating students. As for Frunk, the school levied a one and a half day suspension for the ordeal. Under the circumstances, that’s generous. Even Frunk says “it was pretty fair.” But don’t expect his story to end like that of “clock kid” Ahmed Mohamed. Because Frunk is white and presumably not a Muslim, something tells us Barack Obama won’t be extending to him the same sympathetic courtesy shown to Mohamed. Furthermore, don’t expect Frunk to sue his adversaries and accuse them of overreacting.
There’s a legitimate argument to be made regarding hypersensitivity in America’s educational system. But there’s an equally legitimate argument concerning allegations of “Islamophobia.” That’s why you won’t see the Oregon story discussed on the evening news.
