Update: Jones now says, “Because [of] what [supporters] did for me, I am going to remain on the battlefield. I am going to complete my term. I am going to continue to put my country before my party, and I’m going to do everything I can to help Donald J. Trump get reelected.”

Vernon Jones, a black male Democrat state representative from Georgia, was forced out of the party after he publicly endorsed Donald Trump for president. Jones resigned just about one week later. This decision came after much criticism online and off — including a direct reprimand from the head of the Georgia Democratic Party.
