Re: “Ameriphobia Strikes The New York Times”
“Actually, Mara, I DO own this country. My grandfathers were gassed in France fighting in American uniforms to free Europeans they didn’t even know. My father was nearly shot down in the Pacific in WWII fighting in American uniform to free Asians from Japanese invasion. My great uncle is buried above Normandy Beach where he was killed fighting in American uniform to free Europe from Nazism. I was nearly killed in Vietnam in American uniform fighting to keep the Vietnamese people from being swallowed up by communism. So yeah: I own it. Three generations put into the kitty. Fortunately, I don’t mind sharing it with other Americans and others who come here legally.” —Arizona
Re: “Maher on Biden’s ‘Higher Education Scam’”
“College, as structured today, is a waste of at least two years studying courses totally unrelated to a student’s major or minor. There is not justification, beyond collecting more tuition and fees, for requiring an engineering major, for instance, to take English literature or art classes. Too many parents fall for the lie spread by teachers — ‘You need a college education to get a good job’ — and pass that lie on to their children, forcing them to go to college and get a degree in … something. Anything. Technical schools use the intelligent approach. Teach what needs to be learned to get a job in a chosen career. Period.” —Michigan
“At least Bill has caught on to the scam and is explaining it to his audience. I have had a great career in the software industry. I have a degree in speech communications. The value of my degree has purely been a checkbox on job applications. I have excelled beyond my peers not because I had better ‘schooling’ but because I worked harder, learned as I went, and generally continued to learn on my own. If I had to do life over, I would skip college and just go straight into programming. We really need to redevelop the ‘apprentice’ culture.” —Texas
Re: “How to Counter the Left’s Historical Revisionism”
“One correction, if I may. They are ‘government schools,’ not ‘public schools,’ given the little control the ‘public’ is allowed to exercises over these schools. As properly pointed out: ‘The federal government has no role in curriculum, zero, no constitutional power, no authority. They can’t do it by using money to get around that fact, which is what [Biden] is trying to do on Critical Race Theory.’ Enforce the Tenth Amendment!” —Michigan
Re: “Hide Your Jewishness for Safety’s Sake?”
“Do we really have a problem with white supremacists, or do we have a problem with anti-cultural thugs? To think that in this country we have Palestinians attacking Jews! They left their own hellhole to create one here. I know Israeli muslims. They live in Israel and call it their home. Some serve in the IDF. Non-Jews in Israel have all the rights and privileges of Jews. So, we bring in Palestinians to this country to carry their hate and discontent — and our answer is to hide who we are? That is like telling people to hide their skin color.” —Nevada
Re: “Omar the Jew Hater”
“‘I was in no way equating terrorist organizations with democratic countries with well-established judicial systems.’ That is not a clarification. That is a bald-faced lie. And yet a majority of Jewish citizens still vote ‘D’!” —Maryland
Re: “Can Trump Flip Joe Manchin and the Senate?”
“West Virginians should start a recall against Senator Manchin. It would get his attention. Worked wonders in California. As soon as our governor realized he would be recalled, his onerous COVID restrictions began to disappear.” —California
“If Manchin switched parties, he would immediately be pilloried by conservatives for being a RINO. Damned if you do, and damned if you don’t. Manchin is a Democrat. He is not a leftist, but he has little in common with conservative Republicans, and the issues on which he is right about are different than those that progressive Republicans waffle on.” —Virginia
