Reader Comments

Observations on the week’s analysis and commentary.

Editor’s Note: Thank you for sending comments on our news, policy, and opinion — we review every one of them. Here are a few reader perspectives, which don’t necessarily reflect those of The Patriot Post.

Re: Six Murdered in Hate Crime Against Christians

Thank you for calling this murder of innocents what it is: a hate crime. Self-hatred and seething animosity were turned outward toward children and staff in a Christian school. As with all hate crimes, it is also an act of cowardice. —California

Wait, should her “manifesto” be correctly gendered as a “womanifesto”? How come men always get the blame? —Vermont

The only good part of this story is that the perp was DRT. No confinement or trial costs, just straight to hell. —Florida

Mass murder recipe: Take a deranged sociopath; add some psychotropic medications with cross-sex hormones; fold in a toxic mix of leftist activism, queer theory, heterophobia, victim propaganda, and violent media; add a few doses of anti-Christian rhetoric; and put all ingredients in a pressure cooker until the brain is fully stewed into hate. —Oregon

The Patriot Post is playing into the hands of these demented people by referring to this male gunman as a “woman” and “she.” —Michigan (Obviously the mainstream media confused some of our readers, because we ALWAYS refer to a person by his or her correct gender — and in this case “she” was in fact a “her.”)

Re: ‘I Am (Confused) Jazz’

I congratulate the author on continuously referring to Jazz as a male (XY genes). Unfortunately, it appears Jazz (legal name) has probably been surgically altered. —Florida

Re: Why Are People Still Poor?

Please send me and every other citizen that can read above the 8th-grade level a copy of the federal budget. I am certain we can find a few items that can be removed from the spending side of the file. This should happen every year and should include the name of the politician that lobbied for each expenditure. They are robbing our future and our representatives are failing to serve us. —Washington

Mark Twain once said, “Most folks are about as happy as they make up their minds to be.” Paraphrase that and switch the word “happy” with “poor.” Unless a person has some very real disabilities, the equal opportunity for advancement in this country is awesome. In America, you can be born poor but you don’t have to stay poor. The life choices, the behavior one engages in, taking advantage of educational opportunities, dedication, and self-sacrifice are the tools that will lift you out of poverty, not government handouts, which only serve to make one comfortable to remain in poverty. —Pennsylvania

It breaks my heart when the Left blames capitalism for the poor choices made by the poor. Most of us have made poor decisions once or twice in our life. Bad decisions should be a learning experience and help teach better decision-making. The U.S. cannot wipe out poverty and never will. Capitalism allows for the invention of a better mouse trap. What does giving money to people give our society? A society that expects others to fix them and support them I think has led to frustration and anger, which is resulting in crime that is just out of control. —Wisconsin

Re: The Data on Leftist Erosion of American Values

If we want to change the culture we have to change OUR culture, one person at a time. Live it — really live it — boldly live out good values, and call out the bad. Make the case, as The Patriot Post does, that our core values are necessary to ensure Liberty will endure in the long run. —North Carolina

Thank you for an excellent exposition on public values. The reality is, the generationally dysfunctional Democrats and their mainstream media outlets are dead set on destroying our country. —Georgia

Re: Tuesday Short Cuts

“Parental rights end when you decide to send your kids to public school.” —New Mexico School Boards Association Trainer Andrew Sanchez

Now THAT right there is a poster-child ready-made promo of why parents should be VERY wary of entrusting their little sheep to the big bad wolf of public schools. It’s a perfect example of condescending, pompous entitlement — entitlement to children as the objects of their “care,” which is more often interpreted as outright ownership. Thanks to Sanchez for the enlightening clarification. —Virginia

Re: Dems Against Assiduous Public School Parents

For a long time, the cockroaches were content to have their happy little huddles in the safety of the dark room, hidden from view. Until someone turned on the lights. Then there was a mad, chaotic scramble to scurry back into the welcoming shadows where their activities could no longer be easily seen. The parallels to the current hair-on-fire panic at transparency and accountability among a huge percentage of the teaching profession are striking in their similarity. —Virginia

Re: The Commercial Gentrification of America

I’m 78, soon turning 79 this summer. I’ve “been there, done that” too! And although there’s much I wouldn’t do again, MOST I would repeat in a heartbeat. I thank God every day for the America that I grew up in. Wouldn’t take $10 million for my life, my experiences, or my memories. Thanks for helping me appreciate and reminding me of the life I’ve had thus far. Hoping there’s still much more to come! —Texas
