Trump Day 2: Restore Freedom of Speech
The Trump administration must do everything within its power to restore freedom of speech on the big social media platforms.
“Without Freedom of Thought there can be no such thing as Wisdom; and no such thing as Public Liberty, without Freedom of Speech.” —Benjamin Franklin (1722)
Oh the irony…
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg joined Donald Trump for dinner at Mar-a-Lago last week. Zuckerberg, whose mega social media platforms Facebook and Instagram have targeted conservative speech for extinction, is the most prolific suppressor of free speech on the planet.
In fact, his company banned Trump’s social media accounts on January 7, 2021, and only partially restored them two years after Trump left office.
But in July, after the first failed assassination attempt against Trump, Zuckerberg expressed a strong admiration for how Trump immediately responded: “Seeing Donald Trump get up after being shot in the face and pump his fist in the air with the American flag is one of the most badass things I’ve ever seen in my life.” At the time, Zuckerberg rolled back some restrictions on Trump’s Facebook and Instagram accounts.
Regarding Zuckerberg’s visit, Trump policy advisor Stephen Miller said the Meta CEO “made clear that he wants to support the national renewal of America under Trump’s leadership,” and he sees Trump as an “agent of change and … prosperity.” But I suspect a major factor is also that Zuck is envious of the now-well-established relationship between Elon Musk and Trump, and he wants in on the action.
The Mar-a-Lago meeting was not only ironic because of how hard Zuckerberg tried to silence Trump but also how he and his vast empire of leftists have endeavored to silence conservative media nationwide, including The Patriot Post. They have constantly restricted our accounts on Facebook and Instagram for completely indefensible reasons, including most recently, a meme just before the election about the failed Harris/Walz “joy” campaign. The result is that our highly engaged audience is only allowed to see about 2% of our content.
While we have all the data on targeted speech suppression, our social media constituency has no idea what they are not seeing. Until Congress takes some action to reverse the suppression of free speech rights, we have no legal recourse.
That notwithstanding, I think it is a very positive move that Zuckerberg sought and was granted the Mar-a-Lago meeting.
Trump et al. are facing a colossal challenge come January — trying to clean up the endless domestic and foreign policy failures the Biden/Harris regime is leaving in its wake.
But there are two issues that Trump and Congress must include among their highest priorities ahead of the 2026 midterm election.
I know we are still basking in the light of the most recent election and the biggest comeback in presidential history. Do we really need to contemplate the next election?
The answer is, emphatically, YES!
I am sure you know that the Demos have a long-term strategy to establish a permanent majority. Their success depends on two tactics — and they are already excelling in both.
The first strategy is rigging elections with systemic ballot fraud on a national scale.
They have already mastered the second strategy — the massive collaboration to systemically suppress conservative speech.
Fortunately, we have a reprieve to go after this corruption. The Demos’ 2024 strategy had a BIG problem: The Harris/Walz ticket was, to put it kindly, uninspiring. Despite the bulk-mail registration and balloting in states with no voter ID requirement, along with all the Leftmedia bias and conservative speech suppression, they still could not pull off a win.
Humorously, leftist Demos are now blaming free speech for Trump’s victory.
But the Trump/Vance popular vote margin was below the 50% mark, which is to say, this was no landslide mandate.
Amid all the upcoming challenges the Trump team and Congress will face, addressing systemic voter fraud and speech suppression must be a high priority if we expect to build majorities in the House and Senate in the 2026 midterms, or ever again, for that matter. That would include the prospect of a decisive JD Vance win in 2028.
Two weeks ago, I detailed the first issue in “Trump Day 1: Demolish the Demos’ Rigged Midterm Election Strategy.”
And I mentioned the second issue: “Over the last four years, Democrats have orchestrated a comprehensive effort to suppress conservative speech by collaborating with their Leftmedia publicists and social media platforms in order to keep a chokehold on public opinion.
These two tactics are the most perilous threat to the future of American Liberty.
Elon Musk gets it. "I acquired X in order to preserve freedom of speech in America, the First Amendment, and I’m going to stick to that,” he declared in March. “And if that means making less money, so be it.” And we all owe him a debt of gratitude.
Day 2, the Trump administration must do everything within its power to restore freedom of speech on the big social media platforms, where most Americans now get their news.
And to that end…
Right now, the most important investment you can make to ensure freedom of speech is to support the nation’s leading conservative news journal, a publication that is both advertisement-free and has no AI-generated editorial content.
One incoming question I see perennially when asking our readers to support our year-end mission and operation campaign is, “Why don’t you take advertising to offset your expenses like every other conservative publication?”
First and foremost, we explain this on our Mission page: “Our website pages and emails are certified ‘Ad Free’ to ensure our advocacy and editorial content is not restrained by commercial influence — as is the case with all mass media outlets. Thus, you will note our website and email editions are free of the offensive advertising which clutters commercial news websites.”
Long before Big Tech and social media outlets existed, we understood the invasive but silent role of commercial advertisers in editorial decisions. Thus, back in 1996, when we first started publishing online, we chose to be ad-free.
Additionally, our mission and operation budgets are not and never have been sustained by third-party commercial interests. Nor are we sustained by any political, special interest, or parent organization.
Your Patriot Post team relies 100% on the goodwill and generosity of those who support Liberty — that’s you.
Like many mission-based organizations, we raise over half of our annual budget in the last two months of the year.
Please support our 2024 Year-End Campaign today. It’s the most cost-effective investment you can make to keep the light of Liberty burning bright!
Thank you for all you do on many fronts in support of freedom.
