“Being from the South, Cracker Barrel was of course one of our go-to places to visit and eat. When my two boys were reaching a ‘working age,’ one got a job on the retail side, the other in the restaurant. We knew well both the district and store managers, even stopping in Lebanon to visit the ‘furnishings’ location where all the antique knickknacks are stored for future use. We were saddened by the newest CEO’s actions and truly hope common sense prevails.” —Texas

“I agree with the main point of this article — our Navy, which is critical to success in the Indo-Pacific region, is vastly too small, and both parties have failed to provide funding and resources in the past. But Navy leadership must also shoulder significant responsibility for the sad state of affairs. This is particularly true when looking at the acquisition process and the lack of accountability for failure. The LCS, the F-35, the USS Ford, the USS Constellation — all are programs that were/are criminally over budget and off schedule. Concurrent development, lack of appetite suppression for new requirements, and ‘pie in the sky’ promises from contractors have all contributed. How is the FFG-62 already years behind schedule and many millions over budget?” —Arizona

Unfortunately, it seems to be a more probable motive than misguided compassion for ignoring normally disqualifying circumstances, such as crimes of violence associated with drug dealing.
