Biden DOJ Charges Chinese Spies Ahead of Election
The suspicious timing of criminal charges against two ChiCom spies seems like little more than a pre-election ploy.
How stupid does Joe Biden think we are?
Not to count the chickens before they hatch, but Republicans are poised to resoundingly retake the House and probably the Senate, and, when the new Congress is sworn in on January 3, to begin conducting the constitutionally prescribed oversight that Biden’s fellow Democrats have refused to do during the past two years. And now, only now, with this grim electoral writing clearly on the wall, does his Department of Justice decide to get tough with China. As the Washington Examiner’s Jerry Dunleavy reports:
The Department of Justice charged two alleged Chinese spies with criminal obstruction of justice for their efforts to interfere with a DOJ investigation into the Chinese military-backed global telecommunications firm Huawei, which the United States considers a national security threat. …
Attorney General Merrick Garland said during a Monday press conference that the Chinese spies tried to “bribe” the “double agent” but that the documents handed over to the Chinese intelligence officers were faked by the U.S. government. “This was an egregious attempt by PRC intelligence officers to shield a PRC-based company from accountability and to undermine the integrity of our judicial system,” Garland said.
This is rich indeed, with the absurdity of Garland now taking on Chinese influencers while completely overlooking the clear-as-day evidence of Communist Chinese influence right there in plain sight on Hunter Biden’s laptop.
As our Nate Jackson aptly noted last week: “We and our readers knew about Joe Biden’s pay-to-play corruption before the 2020 election, but far too many Americans had nary a clue. … Had the American people only known what a corrupt liar Biden really is, had they only paid attention to Donald Trump’s stellar record instead of his mouth, we might not now be suffering under 40-year-high inflation and various other malaise brought about by Biden’s disastrous administration.”
As for the administration’s actions against Huawei, they’re at least an ostensible step in the right direction. Our DOJ and intelligence services have good reason to believe Huawei and other Chinese companies work closely with the ruling ChiComs, which gives China’s surveillance state access to other countries’ hardware and communications networks around the globe.
As Dunleavy reports: “The Federal Communications Commission designated Huawei as a national security threat in the summer of 2020. The FCC plans in the near future to implement a ban on the sale of all new Huawei devices over national security and surveillance concerns.”
“In the near future”? To this we can only ask: What’s taking so long?
Make no mistake: The Chinese espionage threat is very real, and it’s a deadly serious matter of national security.
Donald Trump had the ChiComs figured out long ago, years before he began campaigning for president. This human-rights trampling communist nation isn’t a strategic trading partner, or even a geopolitical rival. It’s an ever-advancing enemy of the United States and the world’s leading threat to our freedom-loving way of life.
Unfortunately, these criminal charges by the Biden administration don’t seem to be anything more than a pre-election ploy.
