Open Thread: Sanctity of Life

Today marks the 39th anniversary of the two most tragic Supreme Court decisions in American history, Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton. Those decisions sparked a contentious debate between those who would deny that babies in the womb are worthy of legal protection, and those who rightly acknowledge that those babies constitute "life" as understood throughout history and affirmed in our Declaration of Independence. That right has been tragically denied to countless millions of babies before birth who have been sacrificed on the altar of "choice" since 1973.

Newt Gingrich Wins South Carolina Primary

From ABC: "Newt Gingrich will defeat Mitt Romney to win today's South Carolina primary, according to ABC News. Gingrich trailed Romney by double digits just days ago. But that changed quickly after Gingrich's fiery performance in Thursday night's debate."

Or...the Leftmedia-driven polls were just wrong. The ONLY poll that matters is the one registered in voting booths.

For the record, since the defeat of Jimmy Carter, every Republican primary candidate winning South Caroline went on to the general election.

SOPA/PIPA Draw Big Opposition

Members of the House and Senate are looking to put the brakes on new Internet anti-piracy legislation that may do more harm than good. The Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) bill in the House, and its Senate companion, the Protect Intellectual Property Act (PIPA), were drawn up to prevent the theft of intellectual property over the web by foreign entities. Both bills have strong backing from Hollywood and other media companies, but there is growing concern that they go too far in enforcing their mandate.

Happy New Year!

This past year has brought many challenges to our great nation. There were many battles fought for Liberty, some won and some lost. Whether it was the debt debate, tax issues or the early Republican primary process, we have remained on the frontlines -- something we will continue to do in the coming year and beyond.

As we reflect on 2011, we are incredibly thankful to have so many loyal readers and supporters who have helped make The Patriot Post the Voice of Essential Liberty in a time when that voice is sorely needed.

So, from all of us, Happy New Year! We will return Monday, Jan. 2 with our first edition of 2012.

Finally, remember, only 312 days until Election Day!

Open Thread: Merry Christmas

Today we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, born more than 2,000 years ago as King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Immanuel, God with us.

Luke 2: "In those days a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be registered. This was the first registration when Quirinius was governor of Syria. And all went to be registered, each to his own town. And Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the town of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David, to be registered with Mary, his betrothed, who was with child. And while they were there, the time came for her to give birth. And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in swaddling cloths and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn."
