Happy New Year!

This past year has brought many challenges to our great nation. There were many battles fought for Liberty, some won and some lost. Whether it was the debt debate, tax issues or the early Republican primary process, we have remained on the frontlines -- something we will continue to do in the coming year and beyond.

As we reflect on 2011, we are incredibly thankful to have so many loyal readers and supporters who have helped make The Patriot Post the Voice of Essential Liberty in a time when that voice is sorely needed.

So, from all of us, Happy New Year! We will return Monday, Jan. 2 with our first edition of 2012.

Finally, remember, only 312 days until Election Day!

Open Thread: Merry Christmas

Today we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, born more than 2,000 years ago as King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Immanuel, God with us.

Luke 2: "In those days a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be registered. This was the first registration when Quirinius was governor of Syria. And all went to be registered, each to his own town. And Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the town of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David, to be registered with Mary, his betrothed, who was with child. And while they were there, the time came for her to give birth. And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in swaddling cloths and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn."

Open Thread: Navy Birthday

On Oct. 13, 1775, the U.S. Navy was born when the Continental Congress authorized the arming of two sailing vessels with 80 men and 10 carriage guns in order to intercept British supply and munitions transports. The Declaration of Independence came nine months later, followed by the creation of the Department of the Navy in 1798. Today, our Navy is the most powerful in the world. We at The Patriot Post offer our thanks to all our sailors for a job well done and wish you a Happy 236th Birthday! God bless you and your families.

Van Jones: Tea Party Is Fighting Middle Class; Time for the Rich to Pay America Back

Former Obama environmental adviser and "green jobs czar" Van Jones spent more time venting about his disgust of the Tea Party. His latest hate rhetoric echos the voice of what many left-wingers keep insisting today: The Tea Party is the problem and "the rich" need to start doing their fair share of giving back.

In this 2-minute video, Jones calls the Tea Party economic ideas as "alien to the American experience" who want nothing more than to destroy "The American Century" and middle-class Americans.
