The Democrats’ ‘Regular’ Joe Act
Rep. Kennedy ignored the impressive progress of Trump’s first year and paints America’s immediate future as dark.
Rep. Joe Kennedy III (D-MA) was tapped by Democrats to give the party’s rebuttal to President Donald Trump’s State of the Union address. To be fair to Kennedy, it is not an enviable task. That said, Democrats’ choice of Kennedy was laughably ironic given his message — a message that rings hollow given the current state of the Democrat Party. Kennedy declared, “We all feel the fractured fault lines across our country; we hear the voices of Americans who are forgotten and feel forsaken.” He continued, “We are bombarded with on false choice after another: Coal miners or single moms. Rural communities or inner cities. The coast or the heartland. As if the mechanic in Pittsburgh and the teacher in Tulsa and the daycare worker in Birmingham are somehow bitter rivals, rather than mutual casualties of a system forcefully rigged for those at the top.” Was Kennedy referencing the abusive rule by leftist elites in Washington, especially under the eight years of Barack Obama’s divisive agenda? Sadly, no. The anti-Trump-motivated mischaracterization of his first year must be preached.
Kennedy is as much a one percenter as they come. He’s a member of the Kennedy dynasty, being the grandson of Robert Kennedy and great-nephew of John F. Kennedy, which, within Democrat circles, is widely viewed as royalty. He is worth an estimated $43 million, making him the 16th richest member of the House. And he’s a life-long East Coast leftist. Kennedy was born into wealth and political privilege; he’s far from being an every-man.
Clearly, it wasn’t Kennedy or Democrats who were genuinely listening to or interested in the forgotten and forsaken Americans; it was Trump. It was Trump who listened and gave a voice to the millions of working class Americans that Barack Obama had accused of being the problem and Hillary Clinton had written off as “deplorables.”
So while Kennedy and the rest of the pouting Democrats may label Trump and the Republicans as divisive and hateful, it is Trump and the Republicans who are actively working to benefit all Americans, who are seeking to bring back hope to Americans from all backgrounds irrespective of race or gender. While Trump seeks to free up Americans from the abuses of government overreach, Democrats and their cohorts in the Leftmedia are seeking to dupe Americans into thinking that Trump is aiming to destroy this great republic.
