The U.S. Is Becoming a Sanctuary Country
Joe Biden’s intentional immigration disaster keeps getting worse and worse.
We’ll say this about Joe Biden: The guy has a sense of humor. It’s entirely inadvertent, sure, but anyone who says he plans to run for reelection after having put together the most ruinous 15 months of any president in U.S. history is, well, a comedic genius.
Perhaps he thinks there’s nowhere to go but up.
Take the ongoing unarmed invasion across our southern border, for example. If Biden’s willful failure to enforce our nation’s immigration laws isn’t an impeachable offense, nothing is.
Late Sunday night, we learned that Texas Governor Greg Abbott had delivered a sixth bus of illegal immigrants from Texas to Washington, DC, to no avail. At approximately 20 immigrants per busload, he’s bailing water from the Titanic with a soupspoon. At least, though, he’s giving Beltway denizens a taste of their own bad medicine.
And Abbott and his fellow border governors are girding for even greater chaos along the border beginning on May 23, when Title 42, the Trump-era public health policy that has allowed the U.S. to turn away migrants because of the COVID-19 pandemic, is terminated. The fear of an illegal immigrant deluge is now so great that panicky Democrats are asking Biden to back off his planned rescission. We’ll see if he listens.
How bad will it get in the weeks and months ahead? As The Washington Times reports:
ICE is getting ready to release as many as 600,000 illegal immigrants into communities before the end of September, the agency told a federal judge, giving an early estimate of the chaos the administration is predicting after it ends the Title 42 pandemic border shutdown. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement revealed the figure in a court filing dealing with how it plans to handle illegal immigrant children who arrive as part of the surge. Deane Dougherty, ICE’s juvenile coordinator, wrote in the filing that the Homeland Security Department expects a “historic border surge, with projections forecasted to triple current arrivals.”
So much for the solemn oath Joe Biden took on January 20, 2021, to “faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States” and, to the best of his ability, “preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.”
Then there are Biden’s midnight flights full of illegals bound for all parts of the nation. As the New York Post reports, they’re back: “The White House has quietly resumed its after-dark charter flights of underage migrants to a suburban airport north of New York City — after a Post expose led to their suspension last year. The Post watched as a group of migrant teens got off an Avelo Airlines plane that arrived at the Westchester County Airport near White Plains at 9:25 p.m. Thursday. The group then boarded three waiting buses that drove off about 50 minutes later.”
Where these illegal immigrants will end up is anyone’s guess, but they’ll ultimately encroach upon big cities and small towns all across America, straining already strapped resources. In this respect, Biden is kicking down hard against those who can afford it least. He seems to care not a bit for the chaos he’s causing. Indeed, as former Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino put it: “The resumption of flights is a big middle finger to hard-working New York taxpayers. It’s frustrating. It’s outrageous.”
It’s frustrating and outrageous, all right, but at least we’re not wasting millions of taxpayer dollars on hotel rooms for illegals. And at least the terrorists aren’t trying to exploit our pathetically porous border. Oh, wait…
Is it any wonder that this administration is trying to hide the degree of the damage it’s doing? “House Republicans are demanding that Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas produce key immigration enforcement data that they argue is being hidden from the public by the Biden administration,” reports The Daily Signal. That demand came in the form of a letter from Texas Republican Congressman Chip Roy and 19 other GOP lawmakers — a letter calling the data being supplied by the Biden administration “wholly inadequate for the purpose of comparing annual data to prior years.”
By “prior years,” they mean the Trump years, of course — way back when we actually protected our southern border. Sadly, pathetically, the United States of America has since become a sanctuary country.
And, yes, Joe Biden did that.
