The leftists who are currently at the helm of our country have succeeded in creating a new coalition, and one not in their favor: concerned parents. As talks from the Department of Education are targeted toward amending the Title IX policy — which ensures there is no discrimination on the basis of sex in education, sports, and other federally funded programs — parent groups have gathered together and penned a letter in protest.

Title IX was put in place to protect women as much as men. It keeps separate private spaces such as locker rooms and bathrooms. It also protects women’s sports. The new classification of gender identity would throw all of that out the window, and parents are not okay with this.

The more gender dysphoric athletes such as Lia Thomas make headlines, the more obvious the need for these rules. Thomas’s domination over women in college swimming is, to say the least, a farce. There have been other iterations of this same battle going on throughout the world. Women in a bicycling competition stood up for their rights and threatened to boycott if a gender-confused male was allowed to compete. And a rugby coach from Guam complained to the league because several of his female players were seriously injured by “trans” athletes on the opposing team. Thomas isn’t the only or even most nefarious example.

Blurring the boundaries established by male and female spaces has already led to severe suffering both at schools and prisons. Loudoun County, Virginia, is the poster child for why “transgender”-friendly bathrooms shouldn’t be allowed. Last year, a young girl was raped by a boy in a skirt, though this is hardly the first incident. In California, male criminals who identify as female are being sent to women’s prisons and raping female inmates. This also happened most recently at New York’s Rikers Prison. These women are obviously in jail for a reason, but sending in a wolf in sheep’s clothing — a male predator claiming to be a woman — is beyond cruel and unusual punishment.

Children who “identify” as the other sex are falling prey to another horrible trap. Schools and other bodies of influence such as TikTok and even the president of the United States are pushing for kids to try harmful medical practices. They insist there is a spectrum of gender identity; i.e., there is no male-female binary. Desperate kids are encouraged to feel uncomfortable in their own bodies and are convinced that they are the “wrong gender” as a result.

Since the treatment à la mode for gender dysphoria is affirmation therapy, the methods employed to achieve this are brutal, dangerous, and unnecessary for children who are unable to make informed decisions. The rationale for this insanity is that affirming these children means they are less likely to commit suicide. This is a terrible lie, but it’s one that has worked on parents, with the result being that their gender-confused and affirmed child commits suicide anyway.

Parents to kids of all ages have great cause for worry with this agenda. The ramifications are devastating for both the normal and the gender-confused children.

Parents are brave to bring their concerns to Education Secretary Miguel Cardona, especially considering that it was he who instigated the infamous letter from the school boards asking the Department of Justice to classify concerned parents who spoke out at school board meetings as “domestic terrorists.”

The Biden administration has a nasty habit of ignoring the will and concerns of the people over whom it governs. It believes that it knows better than these individual parents, and it is that utter arrogance that has created this coalition.

It will be interesting to see how Secretary Cardona responds to this letter. But this writer isn’t holding her breath for any sanity from this administration.
