Mayorkas Defends Biden’s Open-Border Policy
The DHS secretary lays the blame for the imbroglio at former President Trump’s feet.
According to President Joe Biden and Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, there is no border crisis. In fact, having no borders is the goal. Jon Feere, a former senior adviser at Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), rightly argued that “the humanitarian disaster they’ve created is intentional.”
Mayorkas gave a report on the border to a House subcommittee on Wednesday. Aside from a 20-page plan — which, according to one Border Patrol agent, hasn’t been implemented and most likely isn’t going to be — Mayorkas predictably blamed former President Donald Trump for the state that the border is in. He went on to declare, “We have effectively managed an unprecedented number of noncitizens seeking to enter the United States.” Mayorkas also is convinced that he’s doing a good job and isn’t failing at all. If that’s the case, why is there an “unprecedented” flood of illegals? We don’t know what’s worse — that Mayorkas is that deluded or that dishonest.
According to Fox News: “62,000 illegal immigrants were not apprehended by border agents in March, with a total of 300,000 ‘gotaways’ since the fiscal year began in October. The total number of gotaways is expected to eclipse the 400,000 immigrants estimated to have evaded capture in all of fiscal year 2021.” This can only be considered doing a good job if the goal is to let in as many migrants as Democrats can get away with.
DHS reports 2.5 million encounters with illegals since Biden took the helm. That’s bigger than the population of some states. It’s a mind-boggling number.
Then you take into account that the Biden administration as a whole undermines the efforts of Border Patrol at every turn, excoriating it with false stories of agents whipping migrants. Then, when Mayorkas goes to talk to Border Patrol, he’s surprised when the agents turn their backs on him? Hmph.
Migrants, U.S. citizens, and law enforcement are dying due to this chaos at the border. Some of the illegals getting in are drug dealers, human traffickers, and terrorists. Earlier this week, a National Guardsman drowned trying to rescue illegal drug smugglers. DHS and the Biden administration’s attitude is “just let them in” regardless of the human cost. This leaves states like Texas and Florida with very little recourse. The best they can do is bus illegals to DC.
Mayorkas, in essence, is defending these policy decisions. What makes this situation worse is that Lyin’ Biden told us a bunch of hooey at his State of the Union about addressing the situation at the border. He said, “If we are to advance liberty and justice, we need to secure the border and fix the immigration system.” You don’t say.
The feeling amongst Republicans such as Representative Clay Higgins (LA) is that Mayorkas is doing an abysmal job: “This disaster we have at our southern border, this disintegration of our sovereignty, cannot be sustained. Anyone who has two brain cells that perhaps would bump into each other would know that it’s abject failure down there.”
Congressman Andy Biggs (R-AZ) added, “You’re not preventing entries; you’re fomenting entries. You’re encouraging it.”
The GOP’s message to Mayorkas is loud and clear: resign, or be prepared to get impeached after the midterms.
